Carpet Nems

so the majority seem to say they prefer rock...do you think they would thrive in a bare bottom tank?
all 3 species (gigantea, mertensii, haddoni) anchor the bottom of their foot to rockwork. Of these 3 species, haddoni appreciates the column being buried in sand.

If you're clever, skilled and somewhat lucky any of the three can be kept in a bare bottom aquarium.

i guess one way to discourage them from moving up on rock is having some high flow areas up top so if they are rock bound to keep them on the lower levels of rock, do you guys think that is a good idea.

None of my Haddonis have ever climbed up on the rocks, so I have never been concerned about them doing that.

Here is a picture of one of mine -- from the underside of the tank. 2 out of 3 of my tanks I can see the bottom glass, and in both of those I can see the bottom of the foot. It is attached to the glass, under a rock.
