Hehe...always something with my wife too...her big thing is always 1) no holes in the walls or floor and 2) too much money!! :lolspin:
As for my system, I'm still in the planning/DIY stages for my system...I've got the tank and I'm amassing some decent equipment (courtesy of some fellow local reef club members)...so, for now it is just starting...if you would like to check out My 75g Place Under The Sea, please feel free to drop in and tag along...I may not have quantity like the rest of you guys in this forum, but I'm just trying to go for quality at this point...
Then your wife would not be in a good mood with my system. There will be 3-2 inch holes and 3-1 1/2 inch holes drilled in the floor for this system. Two of the 2" holes & 2-1 1/2" holes are for the Closed Loop System & the other 2" hole & 1 1/2" hole are for drain and return. No holes in the wall's yet. There will also be another 2" hole for me to run some misc. electrical items donw to the basement to plug into the outlets I have down there.
I know what you mean about club members. Club members are always a great resource for equipment and advice. I love our club up here(CORA), if not for them my tank would not be where it is today. Plus I have gained many good friends out of it to.
No matter how much quanity one has, quality should be most important. I will drop in on your thread for sure.
BTW, I used to live in Richmond Va., we also lived in Quinton for about 3 years.

Brian you system looks awesome. Let me know if I can help you out, you've helped me many times already.
Oh I will be calling on you as well when we are ready to move the tank inside. But you are more than welcome to stop by and check out the basement end of it once it is up and running. Plus it's always been a pleasure helping you out when possible.

Sorry for the question if it is obvious, how does the backflow valve work? Where is it in relation to the rest of the system? Thanks for your time. The system looks like it will be a great one.
Scott
The back flow device is at the top of the return line below the first floor. The idea is when the pump is running the pressure of the water keeps it closed, as soon as the pump shuts off and the water pressure is off of it, it will suck air and break the siphon. That is how it works in theory. If it fails then that is where the two emergency over flows going to the sump pit will come into play.
Again Thank you for all the nice comments!!
