CBB Feeding

Clams55

So I got a perfectly healthy CBB from Blue Zoo Aquatics, and have now begun the feeding struggle. I tried mysis, brine shrimp and live little neck clams (with shells broken) and I have not actually seen him feed, but I am viewing the QT from 6-8 feet away so that I don't scare him. He seems timid but healthy, respiration at 1 breath a second. Should I assume he is eating, or give him something else?

I have a established pod culture in my 90G, and 30-50 aipstasia. He is right now in a 25G Aquapod running Chem-Pure Elite and filter floss.

Do not assume he is feeding...also do not asume he will feed of your aptasia or pods in the dt. Get him eatig in QT before you make the move, but if you just got the fish yesterday it may still be stressed from shipping. Do you know the origin of the fish? The fish from the Philippines are notoriously caught with cyanide and often die from poor handling. In general the specimens from Australia are better handled and therefore more hardy when they get to us. My Australian CBB pigs out on Spirulina brine and Hikari mysis but will not take anything else. They had it eating flake at the LFS though.

HE IS EATING!!!!!!!!!!

Nipped at the clam I put in for him. Definitely got something.

Now to ween him to mysis.

Yep, and clams on the half shell.

I forget who it was, but someone who I remember as being reputable told me not to feed clams on the half shell to CBB because of their weak mouth/jaws. Not sure about the truth of that statement though.
