Congrats on the water! So do you guys just stick a tap in an iceberg to get 0PPM. JK

I love the canyon, but I have to say, I think you could do a little better on the aquascaping. Everyone is a critic.

I kind of like it. Plenty of space for fish to "disappear" and re-appear somewhere else, which really helps with the reef illusion.

The 'directly above the server room' comment made me laugh out loud for quite a while. Not that I wish any problems upon your build, but I've seen way too many water problems over server racks, CNC-, and SLA-machines to not have a good chuckle. I wonder how your EVE players would react to a dieing-server message... "Help, the aquarium bust a leak, we're drowning!" :D

The aquascaping looks excellent except for the horizontal middle section. You've got an attention point on the right with the pillar and on the left with a large cave, but everything in between is just... boring. May be as simple as moving a few of the large plate-rocks around. Just my 2 cents.

Cheers,
Marty

I want to see more pics of that cable bracing, it looks like a cool idea, but from what I can see in the pics, there is a slight problem. Where the cables are looped and clamped, it looks as if the the 2 clamps are switched? Hopefully im wrong, because when add those cable clamps, the saddle, not the U-bolt, but the saddle should be on the tension side, not the limp side. It goes with the saying, "Never SADDLE a DEAD horse." Just my .02, maybe theres a differnet way in Iceland, just what I have learned. Loving the tank! How do you sleep at night? I would have to grab a sleeping bag and go sleep next to it. Just cuz :D

Thanks Marty

The middle section of the tank is still a work in progress since I have yet to install a webcam in the center of the tank just beneath the surface and I want the view from that to be good and mostly unobstructed. The cam will be controllable from a webpage I am building for the tank.

The photos also don't do the tank full justice. It's very hard to capture the depth you get when you look through ;)

I can't wait too see everything up and running. Please post as many pictures as you can. Any idea as to what kind of corals or fish you plan to have? One day I hope to have a tank like this. Keep up the good work.

That is so very true. That is one of the hardest thing to do is to get a picture to reflect what we see.

Also can't wait to see the Web cam up and running.

WOW. I haven't checked up on this thread in A LONG TIME. Looks like I missed a lot. The last time I checked, you were waiting for the tank to ship. Looks like everything is going well!!

You've probably already taken this into account.. But I would ensure that the access to any water in this tank (show tank/sumps) is strictly guarded. ESPECIALLY no access to office cleaning crew who can often have keys to every room. You don't want some moron mixing his bleach mop water in the sump! Yeah, I'm one paranoid dude..

ok, I think I am going to have to upgrade again...

The wife is not going to like it when I tell her that I need to fly away for a few days to do some research...

Maybe I should keep myself grounded and just tag along with your posts.

Yup that is what I will do.

Keep the story coming I am getting the jitters.

soooo... really? 0 PPM on the water?

Nope it is not 0 PPM since it is tap water but I was not going for 0 PPM. I have been using tap water since I started as has everyone else here in Iceland and my corals are outgrowing my tank.

Here are some numbers from the water source (Sorry about the formatting)

You are absolutely right. I have a private set of keys to the room so no one should be able to access it.
