Does anyone know of a good place to buy salt for a 2500 - 3000 gallon mix in the US or even in Europe ?

My supplier here is not delivering on time and I can't wait longer to get this thing started so I want to check out some options and one is to fly it here my self.

If you know of a place with good price and that might be willing to send it to me please send me a PM.

Thanks !

Thats only 17-175gallon buckets. Although that should keep me good on water changes for life, I don't think that would be to hard to come by from any American supplier. I feel for you with the wait time.

I got 10 buckets from doctors foster and smith a few months ago.. They had a special for like 8 bucks shipping on all orders over 200. haha I might have broke them of that though.. Ofcourse that was shipping in the US. No idea what they would charge to get it to you. But I agree 17 buckets isn't that much.. You should be able to find somewhere local pretty easy.

Well local buckets (44lbs) here are about 240$ so filling it would be around ~3000$. A bargain right ? :)

wow, Reef Crystals is 29 bucks for 160 gallon buckets. On Dr Folsters and smith. Instant ocean is like 27. I only paid 315.00 or so for my 10 buckets shipped to my door haha. Thank god I don't live there!

won't the American suppliers ship abroad. The shipping may be more but not by as much as the difference in price. Plus, your currency is probably better than ours right now. Not sure, but a solid guess :)

most won't do it. I am now getting a lot of requests from Canada, so we may start sending stuff there, but it increases the risk of the sale. Amazing how a couple of years can change things. Now they are coming over the border to shop in the 48!

Simple - experience says.
What airline flys to Reykavik from Chicago or? They will have a very good airfreight price for an aircraft container sized load. LD-3 etc. [ different sized, each which holds a certain weight. - fill the size you want - they are upwards of 500 pounds] The price will also vary depending upon the commodity. Get Fosters & Smith to ship free to Chicago, or New York or Montreal etc. I'll bet you will come out less than 50% your local cost and still have it this week!

With that size tank I would be looking into using local seawater. Is that an option you have thought of? I would think the seawater there is relatively pristine. The logistics of getting it might be a little trick but a water truck with a pump hired for the day would do the job.

Sorry if its been asked but is it hard to get coral livestock in Iceland? are there many LFS or do you have to import from elsewhere in Europe or direct from the tropics. Do you perchance drive an insane nitrous fueled 4 x 4 up a cliff face on the way to work , or is that just unbalanced media portrayal.

Arnar, is that $240 USD per bucket of salt? Good god man.... I'd go broke just from waterchanges..... Unlike right now where I just go broke from my tank inhabitants :)

Anyways the tank is stunning as mentioned before, and I hope the best for your new reefing journey! Great video too, I think I watched it five or six times while board at work.... wish I developed sweet games, lol!

There are a few LFS that periodicaly order fish and corals. It's not very hard to put together a wishlist for a special order.

I just sold my nitrous 4x4 but I am on the market for another one... Guess my snowmobile will have to do untill I find something suitable :D
