Is it me or does the camera not work for everyone. It worked at the first time I used it in its original location, but now it doesn't work? BTW great tank can't wait to see fish and coral in it. I now have two reasons to go to iceland: Women, and now Arnar beautiful tank.

Very cool Webcam. That is very cool that you are sharing your system with every one like that.
I would also have to say that the lower salinity level for the start up cycle would be fine.

I would seriously consider using NSW for a tank of that size, especially since you are right on the atlantic.

UV and other filtration won't cost anything what buckets of salt are costing you. I cannot believe those prices.

Great thread, tagging along.

I have considered it but I would have to get a boat and a 2000 gallon container and some transport in land to transport it to me and then pump it 3 floors up. A lot of hassle and I'm not sure it would be cheaper. We are actually almost in the sea here at our office but the water in the harbour is not the freshest :)

I have managed to find salt in the US, a really good priced transport via air cargo so the bucket of 200gallon mix of Tropic Marine will be about 78 $ which is a bit better than 240$.

There is also a question about the NSW here in the much colder waters. It contains bio that usually lives in around 2-4° (F 35) and if I raise the temp to 26° wouldn't there be a lot of die off and pollution?

cool, great that the air transport worked out from the US. How long do they think it will take to get there? Bet the wait is killing you now.

The shipping costs would be a lot cheaper if you had the €
Ah well.

My mate has a boat, and on occassion we have collected sea water in the Irish sea, not as clean as the atlantic, but we were out "fishing" (drinking) anyway.

I was only worried about introducing parasites / patagens, but I figured that they would die off in reef temps, and I would use carbon & UV to filter it prior to use. Maybe floss would be a good idea. I understand you dilemma now, I didn't realise you were in a harbour.

regards
Conor.

Superb! So glad you worked that out.

Order has been completed and 400kg/880pounds of salt are on the way here and will ship next week.

I found it really amusing that when I called the store which is in Florida and introduced my self the guy on the phone said "Yeah, I know you. I saw your thread on ReefCentral"

Guess the Reef world is small :)

Now that has got to make you feel good!!!!!!!!!!!

P.S.
Don't forget to get extra for future use, shipping could be much more expensive in future for smaller orders

Yep, that would have been me trying to calibrate the PH probes. They have never worked and I'm wondering what I am doing wrong. Maybe the calibration fluid ?
