I really love learning about the fish and animals that we keep. I've been surprised twice in the past few weeks by two of my angels.
One of my semifasciatus angels ended up in my overflow. I would guess that she was in there for about 36 hours. This was the less dominant of the two that I keep. The dominant one always kept her in check but it was never anything more than a quick chase. After catching her in the overflow and returning her to the tank, the dominant female is now beating the crap out of her. It has been 24 hours and the one that was in the overflow is not permitted to leave her hiding place under the rocks. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that it will end up the way it was before the one went into the overflow.
Second situation is that I've had a large regal and a small regal in my tank and there was always zero aggression between the two. The small one was removed a few months ago and placed in my frag tank to fatten her up a bit. After feeding her about 5 times a day the past few months I felt it was time to reintroduce her. I placed her in the acclimation box in my DT and the larger regal was attacking the box for 3 days straight. So, I caught the large regal, let the small one out and placed the large one in the acclimation box for two days. I just let the large one out and now the aggression is at zero once again.
A quote from Copps comes to mind and I don't know if this is word for word, but he said something like: It's not what you introduce, but how you introduce.
Couldn't be more true"¦
Tank update:
I recently converted my frag tank into a display refugium/lps tank. I sold off all my sps frags and bought a couple cool macros and lps corals. I replaced the t5's with two AI prime LEDs. I'll be putting up a video soon of my display tank/fish room/sump/refugium, lps display.
