Chads 300gal Envisions

made a little headway today...got the plumbing parts Sch.80 pipe and fittings. Put together some Durso stand pipes and installed a 1.5" TUBV on one of the drains. Was going to try and do some of those other stand pipes but did'nt know the fittings. Looks like some kind of modified reducer or something but I did'nt know so I went w/ Durso style.

Now I wait for the Weld On glue to finish putting together the sump then I can finsh up the plumbing.

yep, taking pics as I go. I got a Eheim 1262 today for the return. I may add a 1260 or another 1262. We'll see how this does. I not much of a fan of alot of flow through the sump. Lots of movement in the tank.

I am waiting for a order of weld on cement to finish building my sump. Glue should be here tomorrow.

Well I was able to get a little work done on the new set up this weekend....even after B-ball and T-ball Sat. and of course mothers day today.

I was able to pretty well finish up the sump. Got it under the tank in the stand.

Got the plumbing done for the return pump and the 2-1.5" drains.

Will be putting on some wood panels on the back of the stand tomorrow to attach Tunze stuff/wiring. I'm trying to keep the wiring from looking like a mess. My brain just does'nt work like some others I guess. I see some of these systems w/ sweet looking wiring systems/harnesses. I look at my old tank and I don't have the first clue as to how to clean that one up. Maybe if I take my time on this new set up and deal w/ it as it goes in I will not have the same mess as before :)

Wish me luck

I'll post pics tomorrow after work.

Here is a pic of some of what I got done last weekend. I'm nearly done w/ the sump. I am going to add some more of the looms I made to help route cables tonight. I will drill and tap some holes to add some JG speed fitting to hold top off pump water line and I need to figure out how I will mount my Tunze top off and the Elos cut off switch for top off.

As well I am going to add some plywood panels to the back of the stand so I can attach Tunze equipt., coil wiring and I need to attach the shelf I made to hold ballasts.

Here is a pic of return, drain lines and the sump I built.

Thanks FFrankie and Ed- I found some magnets on-line but I'm not sure how strong I need to get.

The picture of the sump is not great...I will get a better one tonight. What I'm thinking....This pic is from the back obviously but on the left you water flow is restricted by the TUBV...It will go through a filter sock and this portion of the sump will be whatever I decide to do...refugium-sand bed-extra rock for filtration?? I will put in a product by Sera called Siporax. It is used for additional bio filtration.

On the right is the skimmer section of the sump. Water will enter through a filter sock and I have a adjustable water level in this section. You can just see the wing nuts on the plate that slides up and down to adjust the water level.

Middle section will be for return pump/and any other filtration I would like...Rowa fluidized reactor....carbon and heaters. Also a probe holer on back and I will attach my top off stuff to that probe holder bar as well.

Let me know what you all think.

Take Care,

Chad

thank you saltwaterguy- I am hoping to make the switch from the 225 to the 300 on Friday. I'm trying to get as much done ahead of time and just have to worry about transfering water and livestock.....I'm sure it will be a long day any way around it though.

thanks steeldeep, I checked out your build thread...very nice set up...that steel must of cost you a fortune? I work w/ steel and it is amazing what steel pricess have done in the last couple years.

kind of got a late start yesterday on swapping out the old tank but I finally got eveything in the new 300 last night around 12:30am.

Long day for sure and I moved everything by myself.

Today I am trying to finish mxing up more salt water to fill the tank and sump. Cleaning skimmer. Not sure if I may have a leak in my sump....I thought maybe there was but today I don't see anything but I did find a leak from somewhere on my denitrator. maybe that was it...got my fingers crossed.

Still have alot of equipt to set up and wiring to harness/route.

I think I may have toasted driver for my Tunze wave pump. I forgot I had the driver sitting in the ext. wavebox w/ the pump when I filled the tank. So...today I found that : (. I rinsed it w/ fresh water and will let it dry...probably toaste...suppose I'll be calling Roger for a replacement on Mon.

I'll get a couple pics later.
