I was just wondering if this fish is reef safe or not. most sites say yes but i found a couple that say they are not. not sure what to believe. i feel like i should just go with what Liveaquaria says.

They are coral and other-fish safe. They've got pretty big mouths for their size, so I wouldn't trust them around really tiny types of ornamental shrimp. Other than that, I think they're fine. I've got four and (while I've only had them for a few months) I've never seen them bother anything.

+1 they are reef safe somewhat. Like he said they have big mouths, so some caution needs to be taken. If it fits in there mouth they can eat it.

I had four at one point, and they never bothered anything in the reef. The only issue I ever had (besides a few jumping out of the tank ) was when I needed to treat one that had an eye infection. When I returned it the others beat it up pretty bad, even though it was the biggest one.

Perfect fish imo. Never bothered anything on my behalf. Had him in a mixed reef with shrimp. Just kinda chills out on its own during the day. They are awesome eaters as well. They will anything you throw at them.

One of my favorite fish. Completely reef-safe in my experience, though as others have said, has a propensity to jump!

totally reef safe, kinda odd that you all mention them to be jumpers, i have never had mine (3 of them, with another 3-4 at any given point in the store i work at, for the past 8 months or so) jump or even break the water line.

Great fish and reef safe. Mine was kinda tore up when i first got him about six months ago, Now very healthy. You guys are right, they grow pretty quickly and love to eat! Not bad looking either. Gets along with everyone very well.

so just an update, i ended up getting one and he hid for almost a week!! honestly i thought he had died. i did notice that my yellow tailed damsel kept going after him but they seem to be getting along well now. he is doing very well. he eats and swims around the tank with no fish bothering him. hes about 1 inch. i am so happy i got him...
