It has no black at all on the other side.

There certainly are regional variants of the flame angel, some with virtually no black; but I have never seen one that pale, and there is some kind of growth on the tail fin.

I actually think this might be a Hypomelanistic solar flare angel that I recall seeing some years ago. Still looks a tad pale (though hypomelanistic Angels lack pigments, so may be normal for this one). You could try some foods with beta carotenes in them to see if color can be restored. So, perhaps a few jumped assumptions :) Nice score indeed if it is a solar flare.

I think you are right calore, I already feed this fish NLS, nori and PE Mysis. None of my other fish are lacking in color. The melanin is so lacking that the fish is almost yellow/white with red stripes. I only paid 50 bucks for him because I knew he look a bit off from a regular flame.

No pellets and no garlic. Algae flakes and fresh foods like clams, shrimp, and squid cut up in a mush. If he is eating that then move onto live white worms and black worms. I have never seen a Flame look like that. I think he is sick.

Here is a photo of a hypomelanistic flame angel that was for sale in the trade back in 2013. I believe it was on DD for around $459 because I almost bought it.

Not as attractive as the tigerpyge perhaps, but still a cool looking fish. OPs fish is paler, whic may be simply a fish with even less pigment, one that has lost some color in captivity (happens with flames) or has some underlying health issues. Not sure, but if it's eating then perhaps assumption of the latter are unwarranted.
