Not sure if ima go with the d120 or the new units...

In the new units it uses 3 450s for moons... so this would take 3 of my ratio I asked about above... should u count these 3 as 3 blues or not because there so low it wouldn't count? And then you make ur ratio out of the remaining 52 less?

Ill be getting two more lights soon for my 120 upgrade ... I'd like mine to be a tad bluer prob more of a 18-20k look ...
The d120 I run now has 30 royal blues 21 whites 10k-12k i believe ..and 4 violets

I'm thinking about 35 rbs 17 whites 3 violets for this one one to get me more towards 20k .... what do you think bhaz?

Use something other than cool whites if possible. Otherwise, use some red too.

I want 16 to 18K look also, can you tell me what the abbreviations of each color is?

I'm thinking of ordering a few of these, what do you think of this layout bhazard? Going for a more 16-18k look.

ok, changed the moonlights to RBs and a few different things. I wanted to some TVs on the blue switch to make sure they are on and strong during dusk/dawn etc. Let me know if anyone has any thoughts.

Thanks.

IR. If you point the remote away from the fixture, it doesn't do anything. You need line of sight.

RF to control multiple units could be nice in a future revision.

Sent from my SGH-T999 using Tapatalk 2

You could buy a remote control repeater and a universal remote to control the lights without line of site. May even be controlled by home automation system as well. Wow, possibilities are endless.

bhazard, did you add the 420nm UV lights for coral growth? They seem to put out very little visual light otherwise.

Just put in a order for 2 D120's following Bhazard's layout and advice. Thanks so much for everything Bhazard, will keep everyone up to date!

(Finally getting rid of that crappy PC lighting)

PAR Meter Measurements

I just got the PAR Meter, Apogee MQ-200, and I took some quick average readings of both the IT2040, and my DIY Cree. Both were very impressive, and I suspect it is due to the low K whites (and 180w to the Crees).

I also realized my lights aren't evenly over my tank, and the fixture is shifted to the right a bit. You can see how the numbers are lower on the left side. Numbers should be higher for everyone else who places lights evenly, and I can't remove the bracket from the wall now.

Tank is a 34 Gallon RSM 130D, 24x20x24 I believe. Definitely 24" long and 24" height. Both lights are at 100%.

IT2040 ~7" above the water (Yes, the middle of the tank hits 800 PAR nearly mid way down) I have no idea which leds are making it so high, but it is accurate.

The numbers are excellent:

The 180W DIY Cree/Luxeon at ~9" above the water is friggin insane however. Surprisingly it doesn't sizzle coral. The middle of the tank is 1000+ PAR!

Hey Bhazard,

If I place my LED's on top of my glass hoods, do you think the PAR would be about the same? (way lower than what your keeping it but with glass hoods?)

Don't use optics if you are putting them on a glass top. Here is why. It barely even covers one side of my 120 gallon.

It isn't all that optimal to use glass tops. Hang them if you can.

Sorry if it's already been covered. I searched on 'CFS' within this thread and on RC in general, and got very few hits. Rather than go through all these 166 pages, lol, have many people tried these LED's?

120watts, dimmable, 3watt Bridgeluxe, white/blue.

I emailed their office in Greenville to find out who manufacturers them, but didn't get much info except, "We have a private company assemble them, but we handle all warranty issues". Yes I know the usual mantra "you get what you pay for". But I've heard around some groups that these might actually be worth a shot.

Oh damn.. I'm getting 2 of them for a 48" wide tank.. do you think that'd be ok?

If not, should I ask Sunny to take the 90 Degree optics off?

I just placed the order just now so lmk!

That tank of mine is 72". 2 should be ok for 48".

Keep the optics. You can always remove them on your own easily if you need to.

They just resell them from the same Chinese manufacturers we are ordering from directly. They are good lights, but not great because of the colors of leds used (just blue and cool white sucks). They fade coral color over time.

The chinese factories now allow you to choose which leds you want in your fixture, and some even have built in sunrise/sunset controllers now.

There are several companies that make these types of light, and several that resell them.

Comments/Review:
Customer service from both of my reps was fantastic, they answered all my questions promptly and tolerated me even though I changed my mind every day. A+ for both of these guys (Ada vacationed near end of discussion, Brian took over)

Product review:
Well packaged, exact spectrum I ordered. Shipped and arrived earlier than ETA even as a custom/new item they designed for me. All units arrived in perfect working condition.

Does Evergrow have a fixture like this? SAme color spectrum? I want moonlight but do NOT want to have to manually dim the fixture to get moonlights. This one has separate power to the moonlights so I can use my RKE+ to control that. So lights are two switches, 1 white/ 1 blue, then one more for moon.
All help is appreciated as my current PC are overheating my tank bad. 83-88!!!:angryfire: Thanks, Ty

The new Evergrow light is fully automatic. Moonlights kick in when you program them to.

The Gehl light is pretty good, but it was $230ish and manual dimming.

Twilight Group, Evergrow, and Greensun make the best fixtures with moonlights. They all have fully automatic lights around $280 each.
