Chinese LED Lights

I have one question for you Ron, i would like to switch my Razor for an Evergrow just to have a more complete spectrum, would that be a good move?
Advice needed, thanks.

In order to give you a good answer, I'd need to see what layout each fixture has. A link to the Razor and whichever EverGrow fixture would help. EverGrow is sold by several distributors and may have slightly different layouts.

any one have units with a few green in them?

It just my personal opinion, but I see green having 2 weak reasons for being in an led fixture.

1) To have more green light to reflect off coral and give a bit better green look (a very weak reason for green leds).

2) The slightly better reason for having green leds is, if you have a heavy blue to white ratio, like 3:1 or 4:1 (and a total of 40 leds or more)then you may not have enough red spectrum from just the white leds and a bit of red could be useful. And by adding the red you turn the look of the light a bit purple to our eyes (not to the corals as they don't have our eyes). You already have a lot of blue, and you add some red which makes purple, but if you add some green and keep it close to the red it makes white. RGB, red, green, blue in close to equal amounts makes white (for our eyes, the corals still see red, green and blue). The coral and it's zooxanthellae really don't use much green at all. A little green is OK and you can get enough for the coral's needs from the white leds, but the green is more for how the light looks to us than for what the corals need.

The Razor have 18 blue total and 8 whites so a little bit over the 2:1 ratio, another point is that it as only 6 time points, not enough IMO.

What do you experienced led reefers think of these

I just orderd 2 of the malibu s200 lights with custom led layout for my 300 gallon mixed reef. If you do a google search they will pop up. Can I get some feed back on what you guys think. My tank is 30" deep but the lowest coral is about 24" I asked for 60 degree optics and went with a 2.5 to 1 blue to white ratio.

Looks okay, but I would go EverGrow or Reef Breeders still. 60* optics sounds good. Maybe a little weak for SPS unless they are the very top of the tank.
Clams are a no-go IMO.

That's a really nice light. The programming on it is nice too. Did they charge you extra for the custom layout and what was the total cost with shipping for the two units?

I am interested in which one you went with as well. As for your questions Gillguy, they did not charge me anything extra at all, and they are really easy to work with. The lights were 258 a piece for the s200 which are about 36" long, 50 for the wired controller and shipping was a bit much, 90. But all in all, it's not to bad for custom lights that come with a two year warantee. I like the look of green leds and I like a bit more blue, so I had them change out 18 leds on each light. Like I said I went with 60 degree optics so I hope it works out well. So total in all was right under 700 for everything shipped. I orderd last night and they promised me they would be here by Thursday next week. Not bad being custom made, packaged, shipped, and deliverd from china in less than 2 weeks. And as far as clams, I don't think I will ever have any. And I placed the corals with softies near the bottom and everything else above them, I think the lowest sps or lps is around 20" from the surface. The only thing I am worried about is my anemone he is on the very bottom, but he is so large that I think he should be able to get enough light. And question for you reef breaders do you have any pictures or info like par data on the lights you tested?

I think those are going to be really nice on your tank but isn't the S200 four feet in length. It states that it's 120 cm which equals 48 inches.

Good eye, they sent me multiple product spec sheets and they have different data on all there models the s200, according to them is 900mm which is 35" the s300 is the 48". If you would like I can send you a product data sheet with all the info and pictures and models. And btw thank you so much for your vote of confidence, I looked for about 3 months to find a light fixture that I thought would work well

Well, at lest according to the company, they do use bridelux led, and when I asked bridgelux for the info sheets on there leds they showed me they make blue, green and white led, the only led color they don't make, that i had put in my layout is uv.

No, just blue and white: http://www.bridgelux.com/products/ledchips.html
And the latter only comes in large arrays. Anything labeled "Bridgelux" is likely just some random chip.

Asid61 look at there website, they say they produce blue, green and white. I am not trying to say your wrong, or start an argument, I just asked them and that's what they say. If you go to there website, click on products, then click on led chips and read the info above the product list it says what they make.

Bridgelux.com, right? Could you link me to one of the red or green pages? I must have skipped over it.

Emailed you two of the product sheets Gillguy feel free to ask anything I know I probably annoyed the company with how many questions I was asking

Datasheets are only for blue, 445-465nm.

In any case, the lights look okay. I'm sure they'll work for you, but getting another one might be to your advantage.
They definitely look sleek.
