Chinese LED Lights

That is Evergrow's Nova A4. That was the first led fixture I ever bought, and that's prob the best price you'll find on it. The differences are no moonlights, manual dimming instead of automatic sunrise/sunset, no LCD screen, controller, remote, or upgraded hanging kit.

Were you happy with it?

As far as light output, I'm guessing it will be basically very simliar to the D120? I know its like 7 fewer LEDs but does that make a huge difference?

Does anyone know how the it210 compares to a maxspect razor or the new Vegas? I'm swapping out tanks in my entry way and the new tank will be open top so looks are important to me along with less cords. My tank is a mixed reef. 60 x26x28. Cost is not that important but of course I want to spend wisely.

Thanks
Barry

They only came in blue/white when they were first available, and although i liked the build quality of the light, I wasn't thrilled with the color over time. I knew nothing about leds at this time as well. I also wanted automatic sunrise/sunset, but the only way to get it was to use my Apex and modify the fixture. Now with the new IT2040 light, it has it all built in for a good price.

Fast forward to today, and my Nova A4 is now a heavily modified Cree XT-E fixture at 180 watts and more powerful than what the new Radion will be in 2013. I just loved the design.

The regular Nova A4 is just as bright as the d120 and the IT2040. They all use the same drivers.

I just got my 2 d120 ReefBreeder LEDs with 90 degree optics and love them. I love the reds and greens. It adds a rainbow effect to the shimmer. Very bright.

Quick question Bhazard,

I picked up two D120's from Evergrow and one of them is noticably dimmer than the other one at lowest to 1/4 setting.. It seems to even out in brightness at about half and on.

Sunny mentioned that its something that'll be more careful of in the future, but with manual setting that is what is going to happen.

Is this true? it's pretty noticable at the same 25% setting.

What do you think?

I bet they stuck the wrong resistor in a circuit somewhere. If it bugs you ask for it to be fixed

I'm not sure. It could be a pot resistance type thing being different or underpowered driver maybe? Probably isnt the driver if it gets just as bright at 100%. Talk to Sam or someone aside from sunny, and see what they say.

I got a quote for the equivalent for two of IT2040 (programmable and DIY) 90 degree plug, 3w, 120w (still checking on remote and hanging kit) for $420. Seems like they are beating the competition by $180. WOW. This seems like an easy choice. These are the images hey gave me when I asked.

I switched out a few leds on my d120. 4 violets, 2 reds, and 4 warm whites for now. I have 4 UV as well
but curious to know if they would be useful to install. Is UV lighting beneficial to corals in relation to their
color? Does the protection from UV rays that corals produce , their colors, , diminish if not exposed to UV light anymore over time?

UV is from 240 - 400 nm The bridgelux UV LED's are 420 nm. So were talking violet not UV. 420 is the same wavelength of actinic bulbs. So I wouldn't worry about harming corals with 420 nm LEDS.

Yes he said it was customizable (DIY) and sent me a chart. It also has moonlights. Brian also responded saying that it does too come with the remote and hanging kit. Going to get mine soon.

The only thing different seems to be no optics. It also looks like they use resistors for each led, so I'm not sure you can just swap leds at will like you can with the Evergrow version. Led swapping is a huge deal for me, as I change leds nearly weekly until I hit perfection. I just added 3 reds into my fixture last night and liked the effect.

They may have quoted the price without shipping as well. Shipping would be another $60+ per unit, otherwise it looks like a good deal. Would need to know the current they run the leds at, and if they're a good bin (actually bright).
