Chinese LED Lights

bhaz, when you took your par measurements what percentage were you on and at what height above your tank did you have the fixture? also how deep is your tank

100% each channel. 8 to 10" above the waterline, 20" deep. They did very well, and easily equal and even beat most commercial fixtures in PAR.

The only downside to these lights, is that the royal blues are a lot weaker than Cree or Luxeon Royal Blues. Use at least a 2:1 ratio of blue to white.

Reefbreeders seems to be having issues. I was also getting no response via email, but I just noticed they have a message on their contact page saying their email is down and to leave them a message in their contact form with your phone number. I also finally got a shipping confirmation from them, so apparently it is just a communication issue.

Can you guys help me out with my layout please? I am ordering the IT2080 fixture from EG and this is custom layout I came up with. Should I add or remove something? I am going for good growth and color pop somewhere in between the 15-16k look.

You dont need that many greens imo. 2 should be just fine, replace the other two greens with 480nm.

What are the other blues labeled as b?

As far as the 16ks go, i would rather use 450nm in place of it if ur going for the 15k look. Bhaz sated that the reefbreeder whites are very strong. At least a 2:1 ratio of boue:white should be ok. I went for 2.5:1 in my set up

The "B" in the fixture are the royal blue. what color is 480nm? Besides replacing the 16k with 450nm, everything else is okay? Will I still get good color pop and growth?

how tall is your 180? My concern is that my tank is 30" tall I want to make sure two IT2080's is enough for a sps dominant 30" tall tank?

My 180g is only 24" deep. I have an old D120 (3:2 blue to white and no dimmers, no lenses) on my 75g (also 24" deep) anemone tank and I'm getting 250-300 PAR at 22". That should grow most anything.

A friend of mine has a 220g (30" deep) and he has even older style D120 with much lower PAR values and his sps & lps near the bottom seem to be doing just fine. He ordered 2 of the IT2080's as well. But he plans to keep an older D120 (all b&w w/dimmers) and hang it behind the IT2080 in the center of the tank.

Our lights are estimated to ship on Dec 20th. I'll post pics as soon as the shipment arrives.

Must be. I have been emailing back and forth with a Logan there in the past couple of days. But I started the email chain using their contact page from their website. The replies were not the quickest but with in 24 hrs he would answer my questions.

And for comparision sake I can say that Helen at EverGrow never took more than 24 hours to get back to me. They are 13 hours ahead of us on the East Coast, so they are up and working while we sleep. Emails that I would send late at night or even early in the morning would get answers within an hour or two. Even now that they have our order and our money, they reply to emails just as quickly. I hate to say it, but there are US companies that can now learn a lesson from how the Chinese companies do some of their marketing and customer service. What a change from just a couple of years ago!

Not an expert, but since the 2080 is twice the lights/size of the smaller units, I would think 3-4 greens would be the correct #

Has anyone had any problems with the the Evergrow fixtures?
I came home yesterday to a tank missing the blue side of the fixture. Probably lost the Driver. I bought these in June.

Here is the new layout after some changes. what do you guys think? better then before? Should I still change out any bulbs. again, going for color pop, growth, and a 16k look. Thanks for all the help!

+1^ I run an online business and MFG in China. The nightly emails and early morning emails have been a thing of my life for the past 4 years. They do have a great work ethic and honesty I can see what you are talking about!! I have contacted a few Reef companies about some products recently after a brief break from things and lets be honest I'm not really too sure how they are even in business!!! If I ran my website this way it would be all over the forums in 24hrs in my industry. I'm actually thinking about importing some reef goods just because these companies are so laxy-dazy with the way they work I would do extremely well LMAO!!!

Customers need answers, Customers are always right and customers don't deserve to be put off because they say they are busy right now what a joke this is Reef Keeping not brain surgery!!! It's actually kinda funny how lazy these Distributers have gotten on this forum not like years ago!! China wants your business and their works hours show for it!! See you noticed this is why other countries call Americans lazy and flashy everyone wants the glitz and glamor and don't want to work for it IMO.

I think in this thread there have been a few people who have had 'issues' with EG products and it seems that EG has been pretty responsive. I haven't seen anybody ripping them for not getting customer service done after the sale. They reply to emails and they provide phone numbers. I haven't tried calling (I came close at one point) because I have no idea how expensive the call would be. My only issue with EG was figuring out how to pay them. I was very reluctant to sending a Western Union Money Transfer to Ping Li in China. The more expensive T/T money transfer (not even sure what T/T is) goes to the bank that EG deals with in China. I bit the bullet and sent the WU transfer and EG got it and is working on our lights. Now I have to wait until they are done (24 fixtures) which is estimated to be 12/20 and shipped which is 3-5 days. I'll even give shipping some extra time as this is a busy season here (not so much in China). :wavehand:.

They accept paypal, which would be much safer to use.

My whites spotted working 4 days after i got them. I contacted Sunny and they walked me through a couple things. Ended up sending me a new light board and new diver for free.

Mike :)
