Chinese LED Lights

I have no experience with the IT2080 but part of your answer would be what types of corals you are planning to put in the tank and how much PAR you need. Hopefully you can find some good advice from the RC regulars on the IT2080 to help you make the right choice.

As you know the D120's have manual dimmers and the IT series is more automatic but is 3 or 4 times the cost even with a Group Buy direct from EverGrow. But the IT series has less wires if looks is a big issue.

EZ, you also made a serious mistake here. I bought D120's, IT2040's and IT2080's direct from EG in a group buy. Here is what we paid (including delivery):

D120 - $135
IT2040 - $240
IT2080 - $ 345

The IT2040 is almost the same thing as a D120, a few less leds, added moonlights, 1 less power cord, a better hanging kit and a very cool controller. And all that for a little over 50% higher price. NOT 3 or 4 times the price!

Also, Helen at EG told me yesterday that they now have 120 degree lenses. I'm buying some along with some extra leds. Shipping is $20, but the lenses and leds are pretty cheap!

Wow that's some cheap group buy prices ron was that through EG or RB? I paid like 330 per unit for my 2060s .... how many do you need to buy to make it considered a group buy and get the discount?

If I dont like my 90 degree lenses ill prob look into some 120 degree optics

JUST GOT MY LIGHTS!!! Can't wait to open these up ugh work is gonna drag today! Pics to come soon of these bad boys on my 120!

Thanks for the clarification and updated prices.

When I got mine last year below were the quoted prices from EverGrow (add $25+ for shipping) in our Group Buy. I am glad to see the prices have dropped on the IT series.
"D120 ( 105USD/pc , 4kg)

IT 2040 ( 200USD/pc , 6kg)

IT 2060 ( 297 USD/pc , 8kg)

IT 2080 (429 USD/pc, 10kg)" The IT 2080 is what I beleived to be 3 x the cost not all IT's (my poor wording) in response to a specific question on the 2080's versus the D120's.

And, yes 120* optics are available again from EverGrow and I have some ordered too.

Best Regards,

The only group buys that can be discussed for the IT lights has to happen in the Reef Breeders sponsor forum. We don't want the thread to close again. It will be priced higher, but the US warranty would be worth it for many. I wouldn't even want to know the price to ship an IT2080 back to China if needed. If it costs them over $60 per unit to ship, you know it will be much more from here.

Travis, looking forward to pics later.

The 2080 does have the connector... Only 1 power cord to an outlet for two lights over a 72"? Sweet.

Interesting. Our lights were shipped 4-5 days before Christmas and all 3 of the IT2040's have the 'connector plug, none of the 7 IT2080's have it? Not that I really mind. Two power cords to my IT2080's is way better that the 8 cords I was originally looking at when I was thinking I'd buy 4 of the D120's for the same tank.

I thought the pic travis had was the 2080. Its the 2060. My mistake.

Here is my situation. My tank is 108" x 36" x 27" deep with three black cross braces. Looking to keep both SPS and LPS. This gives me four sections at 32" x 23" between cross braces. Would you use the IT2040 or IT2060 (x four lights)? Also, will these link up to use one power cord or can you only hook two up to one cord?

Thanks,
Mike

OK another question is ... I hooked one unit up set it up setting wise and then I set up the other unit and linked it to the first one yet it didn't use the settings from the first do I have to set them both the same? Or will setting one work as a program for them both?

Only the power is shared to the wall, not the controllers.

Wow programming two of these things to on the schedule is a pain the @$$ lol it take soooo long to do ... besides that I love them! I won't lie at 100 percent there nowhere near what I wanted color temp wise and I'm at a 2:1 ratio and it still is at most a 16k but it could be more towards 14k I'm not sure ...

I have to turn the white channel down to at least 30% less then the blue channel to get to more towards and 18-20k look but since I'm just starting these up I'm running them at there Max 60% on blues and 30% on the whites... hopefully thats low enough its plenty bright ...

Huge improvements made to the hanging kit on these SO MUCH NICER! these lights are built so well and look so good and the touch screen is so nice and easy to operate ... the remote was very nice while setting them up .... I could only get them 8 inches off the water in my canopy and with the 90 degree optics it looks fine .. I can SLIGHTY notice some spotting with the green and red but its very little ...

But to those who want 18-20k I promise do a 3 blue to 1 white ratio ... it prob will still not be blue enough but don't be scared it won't be too blue ... I think more like 33 blues (including 3 moons) 10 whites (6 75k 2 35k 2 12k) 2 greens 2 reds 4 violets I went 29 blues(with moons) 14 whites ... and I have a reef brite running with like 18 blue leds and its still Very WHITE... don't be scared like I was too go too blue cause it prob won't be blue enough still

Mike, I think either way will work. And you realize the IT2060 is just a 'stretched' version of the IT2040 (same number of leds, just longer). So the 2060 will cover a bit more sq ft of bottom, but at what cost? How much extra do you pay for the longer fixture? If you do the 2040's and they don't light up the 36" dimention as well as you like, you have 2 options. First take some 90 degree lenses of the last couple of rows of leds, or move the light toward the front or back of the tank (whichever works better for you) and then remove lenses off several rows of leds at the end of the light that is far from the edge of the tank. If that isn't enough extra light spread (the 90 degree leds do spread light more without 90 degree lenses than the do with them), then oder some 120 degree lenses (they sell them now for $0.15-0.20/ea) and use them. The extra 120 degree lenses will cost you what, maybe $5-7 extra per fixture if you buy enough for 3 rows at each end and all the moonlights, reds, violets, UV and any other odd color leds you may have. Compare that to the difference in cost between the 2040 and 2060.

I'm ordering some 120 degree lenses to put on all the red, violet, UV and moonlight leds. I also need a bit more spread at the back of my tank because my rock wall goes all the way up to the water surface and the 90 degree lenses aim the light too much straight down. And I don't need them for extra PAR as the corals under them are so close to the surface.

I don't know the answer to the power cord question, sorry. But the people at EG should give you a quick reply if you e-mail them.

Hope that helps?
