Chinese LED Lights

And I've probably said on here that I think (remember, very little first hand experience) that a 2:1 blue to white would be about a 20K color.

Definitely not going to give you 20K from EG. I basically copied the layout by monkiboy which is about 3:1 blue to white and I'd say its about 14-16K when both channels are at 100%. This is with a purple tint though.

The company that sells the first light sells a model with a controller that does auto dimming, lightning, etc. It's interesting, but no one has tried it yet. No one has any experience with their customer service either.

The other two lights are from Evergrow and Greensun, which both make solid lights. Reefbreeders resells the Evergrow lights in the US with a US warranty, and I also think they resell a few Greensun models too. US resellers are the best bet, because the light can be serviced in the US without paying a massive shipping charge to send to China. There isn't really a list of US resellers around.

What would you recommend,I purchased the it 2040,the 16 inch unit for my 40 g breeder tank.its 36 long 18 deep and 17 high. I got the 90 degree optics with them. I took the otics off before I built my canopy because the light was 3 inch from water. Now I finished my canopy and the light is 10 inches off water. Would it be better for me to put the optics back on?thanks

At 10 inches up, having optics would be better for light penetration, and to keep the light in the tank. If I didn't use optics at 10" off the water, I would blind myself.

I'm ordering a it2080 and looking for a little help on the layout. I've been running LEDs for over a year and it's time for an upgrade. So this fixture fits my needs perfect, my fixture is just w/b no dimmers no bells or whistles. Thanks

I'll let you know what mine is like when it gets here. Scheduled to ship on Fri the 21st. I think part of how blue or 14K to 20K your light is, depends on how many of the 440nm vs 460nm blue leds you used and which of the 3 different white leds you use. I'll know how I did soon enough.

thanks ron, im not sure how many whites to put on the blue channel so that there is not a windex look with just the blues on. also trying to avoid a few white spot lights if i have the wrong mix.

i have 4 t5s that i would like to decommission with the MH set up. with the t5s running and just the blue on, it looks fine. but blues alone looks like windex.

If you have the 90 degree lenses on your light, you could put some white leds in and take the 90 degree lenses off which will greatly reduce the spotlight effect.

thanks for the thoughts that first one really peaks my interest. would need to see if it comes with a simple or good controller. being the guinea pig doesn't really intrigue me but the light does look interesting

Hey guys. I am pulling the trigger on 2 of the Evergrow Christmas Sale D120s for my 48"x16"16". Their default layout is below (Sorry, no color). This seems to cover all the bases for spectrum, but I'm an LED noob. What do you think?

Option one: doesn't show color very well in coral.

Option two is great, but very white. Think 8 to 10k, and those 12k leds can possibly wash out color.

Option three: See option 1, and not dimmable.

Take a look at Reefbreeders under value fixtures, because you'll get a US warranty out of it, and its the same light with a better led layout.

Thanks bhaz will look into it and let you know what I did! BTW you rock... Read through nearly all of the 200 pages and your an unbelievable wealth of knowledge!

The ones I ordered from Twilight Group came in last night. I'm really impressed with the construction, very robust.

Has anyone ever mounted them any way other than the hanging cables? I need to me mount mine inside my canopy or the Mrs. will not be happy.

I just received the evergrow Christmas Special. Light looks good but I was kinda bummed with the hanging kit. The kit comes with four cables which are two feet long. Can't hang them unless using a fixture mounted to the tank. Not that big of a deal but now I have to order a hanging kit before I can use the light. More just a heads up for anyone ordering the lights from China.

I got my lights in today. The IT2040 is an awesome fixture. I will be posing some pics as well as a some videos since I was able to adjust my camera very close to the correct white balance.
