Chromis with mouth stuck open

I have a blue green chromis whose mouth seems to be stuck open. It's jaw is completely extended as if he were trying to swallow something too big for his mouth. It's been like this off and on but lately it does not seem to be going away. He cannot eat in the condition and I'm afraid I'm going to lose him after having him for nearly two years. I've attached a photo for reference. Can anybody identify this condition and how to treat it?

Have you been feeding any Krill or is there other Chromis in the tank. I have heard that Krill can cause lock-jaw. It could come from fighting also.

I feed Rod's food, which does include krill. He was the only chromis in my tank. Sadly, he died yesterday. I examined him after I fished him out and his jaw was very much rigid. Poor guy couldn't close his mouth and starved to death.

I had a bicolor chromis that I lost from this exact same reason. I played around with the jaw for a little bit after I found it dead and it popped back into place. It seemed to me as if it was overextended and dislocated itself. After I corrected the mouth, it worked just fine when I pulled the mouth out, it would go back in on its own. If I ever see it happen with one of my chromis again I plan on pulling it out early on and trying to put it back into place. It's an easy enough fix if that's what the issue really is, I just thought the fish would eventually correct on its own. Unfortunately for the chromis that I lost, I waited too long.

Its actually somewhat a common issue with chromis and their mouths getting stuck open. Poor little guys

I know, old thread, but I have the same issue with one of my Chromis right now. I can get him in the net... but I don't know how to reset his jaw. Any pointers?
