Cipro Treatment - Should I up the dose?

I have treated my gig for 7 days. The first day, it deflated and expelled some black stuff. Day 3-5 were good. I didn't see it deflated at all and it didn't expelled anything. Day 6 - 7, it inflated for about 6 hours when the light came on, and then deflated for the rest of the time. It doesn't expelled anything. The mouth is tightly closed through the entire time.

Should I up the dose as suggested by Amoo? I also have cephalexin (fish flex) on hand. Should I switch med?

can you show pics when it "deflated"? sometime it can be mis-read.
does it expel smoke, the white milky substance to cloud the water.
does it look like a pancake?

It only expelled a little bit of slime like substance on day 4. The water was never cloudy throughout treatment. Yes, when I said deflated, I mean it looked like a pancake that is too dense (sometimes my pancakes turned out that way :)). Sorry, I haven't taken a pix.

It's a tough call. As a first step, I think you can double the dosage of Cipro. You can try another med, but I never had luck with it (my second antibiotic was always Septra).

I've never had luck switching antibiotics. Not to say it won't work, but sometimes I wonder if the theory of possible bacterial infection isn't always the case when anemone health is on the decline. Sometimes antibiotics help, other times it seems to have no impact at all and switching antibiotics won't change its fate. I would suggest increasing the dosage a little bit and make sure it's water quality stays stable and healthy. Good luck!

Definitely agree with that. Everyone seems to assume bacterial infections are always the cause when Anemones go downhill. I have found very little success treating gigs with cipro even when following the protocol flawlessly. Mags I have done better with though.
