Clam not opening up

Any idea why my clam won't open? It's about 2 weeks old. Sits in sand about 2 1/2' from 250 DE reflux. I've moved it around a bit. Water par are in the normal range.

can you list all your fish and inverts please??

the CBB has been know to nip at clams, has he even?? you mayh ave to sit back for him to show his real behaviour.

using half a pop bottle with some holes for flow, cover the clam and watch his reaction.

good idea,

I haven't noticed any fish bothering it, but i haven't spent a lot of time watching it either.

I have the following fish:

black leopard wrasse
melanarus wrasse
harptail blenny
strawberrry psuedo
CBB
bi color blenny

Inverts
sea serpant
atlantic cuc (saw him for the first time in over 6 mos today)
snails
2 hermits
cleaner shrimp
pep shrimp

bi color blenny

known nipper too, i would suspect him more than the CBB.

At this point, i'm not sure what is keeping it from opening. I had the clam under a lid for 3 days and it still didn't open up. I've been watching the bi-color along with the other fish and I haven't seen any nipping.

can give us a close up shot of the clam, what type did they tell you it was when you bought it. was it opened in the store when you bought it or was it a mail order clam. - mark

moved it to the upstairs tanks where there is only one fish (damsel that will never die). It still is just barely open.

Clam was bought online as a Crocea

list your all your current parameters?

have you checked for pyramid snails??? they are a small nocturnal nocturnal snail that spends it's days under the clam and comes up to feast on the clams mantle at night. it's best to look a few hours after lights out.
