Clam or mussel growing on my wall hammer?

I purchased an aquacultured orange wall hammer. Few months back and I've noticed there is something attached to the outter skeleton and base rock which look kind of like clams/mussels. They even open and close like clams/mussels would. Has anyone ever has any experience?

turkey wing clam? small common hitchhiker seem to live for about a year when i have had them. Or they disappear deeper into the rock.
