Hey Everyone well I am happy to announce that I will be creating a dedicated clam tank in my 40g Breeder tank. While I was drumming up what needed to change to create this tank, I then started looking through this forum for ideas, then thought it would be nice to read opinions of what you believe would make a better/best clam tank. Here are some component questions.

Lighting (color temp & actinics):

Tank Temp:

Gen. water perameters:

Water Flow:

Substrate (i.e. coarse sand, crushed coral, etc):

Filtration (Carbon, Skimmer, refugium, etc):

Rock placement/structure:

Dedicated habits (water change, etc):

Additives:

Other Machinery:

Thats about all I can think of.... have at it!

I added "Tank inhabitants" and "Janitors" to the list... here's my specs thus far...

Lighting (color temp & actinics): 250 watt SE 10K XM

Tank Temp: 81-82

Gen. water perameters: Calc: 450ppm pH: 8.1-8.2 Alk: 3.5

Water Flow: Spray bar (QuietOne 3000) + 2XMJ-900's (wavemaker) = about 22x Tank

Substrate (i.e. coarse sand, crushed coral, etc): Sugar mixed w/ Coarse

Filtration (Carbon, Skimmer, refugium, etc): Refugium + Carbon

Rock placement/structure: Two hils, one on each side of tank

Dedicated habits (water change, etc): 10% per month

Additives: Kent Strontium and Moly. + Tropic Marin Bio-Calc, KentIodine (lugol's solution), Occasiocally Kent Magnesium, Kent Kalkwasser (auto top-off), Kent Iron.

Tank Inhabitants: Purple Tank, Black Ocellaris, adding a sixline wrasse. A lot of Macro Algaes, including halimidias, shaving brush, etc.

Janitors: Few hermits, astrea snails, and two sand sifting cucumbers

Other Machinery: Auto top-off, wavmaker, and pH pen

bah, he is doing very well, grazing eating like a machine, not a mark on or anything... I keep the tank pretty empty for him/her.
