i built a table to match our living room furniture, only it has a window in the top and a 50 gallong clam tank inside. it is plumbed into my main system bringing my total water volume to about 350 gallons. this with a 175 watt MH SE hamilton 14k light.

these pics are when i first set it up at the beginning of november.

i added about 200 watts of uri superactinic t5 and switched the halide to a 12k reeflux.

took some new pics of the clams today - they seem a bit bigger :)

Could you post some more pics of you setup and maybe some more info about the build? Great clams by the way.

thanks. the display tank is an 8' long 240 gallon mixed reef, and the filtration is a 6 1/2' long combo sump/fuge with a beckett skimmer, kalk reactor, and calcium reactor. as far as the build of the clam tank, i didnt take "during" pics. it is just an acrylic tank that i built with an external calfo on one end that drains back into the sump, and a wooden box built around it to match our other furniture. it is supplied water from the sump via mag7. the only way to see in the tank is from the top.

heres a pic of the display - i just finished putting all the acros back in after treating for AEFW, so it doesnt look as "grown in" as it used to.

How long has it been running? DO you have much temp swing? I cant imagine in a closeed box with a MH bulb that the temps would jump quickly.

i bet heat is not an issue if you have enough flow it would be dissapated into the system.
it is a beutifull tank its not often i see theese done so well i have always wanted to put something like this in my desk would be awsome but it would require a huge chiller and that would be noisy. great tank great clams where do you go for you clams?

no heat issues, lik gsm pointed out, it gets dissapated into the main system. all of the clams are from local shops.

well they are amazing and i would love a ric like that is that an actinic only shot?

no, that is with the 12k halide and actinics on.

Absolutely incredible. This reminds me of those tabletop pacman games you used to see in bars .. but with clams instead of the game which makes it WAY cooler! I love the contrast on black.. so classy!!

I am jealous and now want one. Darnit!
