Getting this away from becoming the Clipperton angel thread :D

Here is a small video of my little guy, finally getting comfortable and chasing down the cyclopeeze. Took me a while to get it eating.. right now all it eats is the cyclopeeze.. ignores everything else.

I'm not trying to be critical but the clarion still appears stressed...and pinched too.

Yes, it is. But its lot better than when it was not eating anything. Its finally started eating cyclopeeze. Still refusing to eat mysis or any other bigger peices of food. Smaller fish need to eat a lot more frequently, and not eating for a few days can definately take its toll, along with the stresses of being collected and shipped.

The pipefish is fine. This was his home for months. Its sleeps against the wall and it was way past its bedtime.

Awesome pics guys!

Does anyone know roughly how many of these guys stayed here in the states?

Less then 30 from my rough estimate.

Greshams right...
23 total fish in the USA...and nearly half of all that went to a single wholesaler in NY!
Actually, not that many came in in the first place and every dealer in Asia got much less then they wanted.
Steve

Next time, the USA and Europe will get more.
Unbeknownst to many, Europe requires hard to get yet meaningless verterinary certificates and Australia competent authority certificates as well as the silly vet check paper.

Its all show and no validity tedium and slow going paperwork.
This is why Asia gets so many fish...because they don't ask for the superficial and meaningless paper nonsense.
However...in the meanwhile, we will endeavor to obtain the required documents that will approve us as a provider of "hoof and mouth disease" free tropical fish.

What made this shipment legal, when the one from a few years was deemed illegal? I thought the one from before was also a "one time permit" deal.

I know of a store that recieved Clarions from both shipments, this time they are about double the price.

No hoof and mouth in my tank

But you have a hoof in your mouth.. or is that a foot ?:D :D

legal difference

legal difference

What made this shipment legal, when the one from a few years was deemed illegal?

The difference was the ...er...legality.
This time they were imported in view of all relevant authorities and delcared as permitted ie. clarion angels....

The previous one was not...and did not.

Here are some pics of two Clarions that I just saw for sale over in Bangkok Thailand. The vendor had them in the same tank with a pair of Conspiculatus Angels. The smaller Clarion was maybe 3" max.

They Clarions were about double of what they were going for here so I can see why most went to Asia.
This same guy who had these for sale recently had wild caught Resplendant Angels and Weedy Sea Dragons for sale.

Alex (owner or that shop) is crazy! he have some mega rare stuff, he can always surprise you , when I heard he had the resplendens last year I was completely shocked, that's a fish Im looking for for a LONG time.

Beautiful collection he got there.

I believe I was told they were going for around $2000 if my conversion math is correct. The specimans that were available were extremely small (size of a finger nail).
Vili may be able to correct me on the price in case I misheard what Alex told me.
