 Yawn, can we get back to more clarion pics? Your previous discussions belong in responsible reefkeeping forum.

As for this statement......

marinebetta-
"In other words, what I am saying is that you tend to generalize your situation to everyone else in the world. This is not the case. I apologise for this non PC statement in advance, but your posts just perpetuates the myth that Americans always think that what they do is right, and that everyone else should follow what they do, even if it is not in line with international policy...."

Further perpetuated anti-american sentiment not really needed in a Reef Fish forum. :(

Agreed...I want to see some of these beauties in your aquariums!!!!

I am soooo ****ed that I missed my opportunity to snatch one...NEXT TIME!!!

I'll just post this link CITES registered captive breeding operations as FYI; and also mention that your problem with the Panther Chameleon is pretty much an AZA and US specific thing from what I can read from your post. If my country allowed reptiles to be kept, I could easily import these from my friend's breeding operation in Bali. It's a local law that stops me from being able to acquire any, just like your local laws require you to make sure it is captive bred...

Anything else, I will PM you but later after work....

I must insist once again, you are assuming you know what I know. Again you are incorrect. I have have spoken with many other zoological insitutions regarding this exact matter. For example, the Saitama Childrens Zoo in Japan, The Santiago Zoo in Chile, The Winnipeg Zoo, Duisberg Zoo in Germany- and lo and behold, they must also make the same concession to meet the CITES benchmark. So it is not an "American" thing. One other thing I forgot to mention about the CITES I issue, it was required that the transaction be a DONATION to exemplify it as non-profit. There had to be formalized documents clearly stating it as such. Overall, I think you are greatly undersetimating the value, importance, and clout of the CITES enforced laws. Actually, I have worked with the curator at the Singapore Zoo, too, now that I think of it. It was for a non-CITES species, but it was a tedious and long transaction nonethless. His name is Biswajit Guhu, perhaps you can contact him for some references too.

Anyway, I wont post back on this thread again (Sorry Clarion lovers). Please PM me with any other questions/statements/etc. I would be glad to continue discussing it.

clarion shots

Hi people,
Sorry about the chain of deletes. Each represented a half hour of failed attempts on a new computer out here in another region.

By now it may be well known that I am technologically retarded....and unable to change.
Indeed, it is why I relate to Amy Winehouse....and hand off to Gresham.
However, I am greatful that the same level of incompetence is not related to fish handling ability.

$2000 for a Conspic pair isn't bad... I paid $400 in 1999 for one and it was a great fish, kept it for several years.... one of my favorite fish.
