I have a 120 gallon tank with a 40 breeder sump. I dumped some vinegar in it to clean everything with the pump turned on. I have drained it once to rinse it all off. How many times should I rinse it and how long should i run the pumps before I add new ro saltwater?

100 times.....
I would do another rinse before you fill it. Vinegar is pretty harmless and best way to clean. One more rinse and fill it up.

thanks, I will fill it up again. The tank had a small amount of sand, less then a pound that I couldn't take out. Is that going to be ok to leave it in when I add the saltwater after rinsing again?

You know wht th eohter thing that I do is... I after rinsing I pour in more freshwater and some baking soda and do another rinse... Sort to counter act the acidity of the vinegar. It's probably superflous but I'm paranoid, LOL :)

We're talking about a surface film-thin layer of vinegar in a 120g tank? That's probably about one tenth of a percent of the total water volume in the tank. I'm willing to bet that most aquarium test kits won't even show the difference in pH that makes.
