Cloudy water seek assistance

Two days ago I was looking at my tank and was pretty proud that all seemed to be going pretty well. I have a 120 RR where I have two parallel circuits running from my sump part of the water from the pump discharge goes to the tank about 2000 GPH and a lesser quanity from my Dart pump goes through the chiller and then into the regugium then returns to the sump. My refugium was getting the sand covered with cyano and I had read that increasing the flow helps in reducing cyano. Sounded like a simple fix, increase flow refuge and hopefully cyano goes away. The next morning I go down to check on the tank before going to work and their is water all over the place. The cyano and some clear slime type substance clogged my sock filter and was overflowing into the sump. I had premixed saltwater on had lucklyand was able to refill the sump and then changed the sock with a clean one. That afternoon when I returned that same thing had happened and their was water all over the sock a clogged and was overflowing . In normal situation overflowing probally wouldn't be so bad . But that additional flow had discharged alot of clear stringy slime which has spread through my display tank. The water had gone from crystal clear to murkey. Last night I mixed up new saltwater 30 gallons and am starting a water change. Last night I ran my diatom filter for 2 hours not very much change.
I checked the water parameters and all look good.
PH 8.34, temp 78, salinity 1.023, nitrates not detectiable, phosphates not detectiable, silicate not detectiable, alk 3.66, calcium 370. I appreciate any advice I'm alittle confused. The only other thing I did recently was change my Seio powerheads for Tunze streams

Did you slow the flow to the refugium back to what it was when all was good?
A lot of people use those filter socks, but I've never been a fan of anything that restricts flow or could potentially restrict flow.
I've got lots of annoying slime in my fuge, but I figure that letting it grow there uses the nutrients, and keeps it from getting a foothold in my display tank.
As for clearing the water, you might be dealing with a bacteria bloom, you might be dealing with a lot of detritus and such. Bacteria will usually just clear itself, detritus really should be removed by means of mechanical filtration. If you have, or have access to a diatom filter, they really do a nice job in a short while. It's not something I'd recommend using on a regular basis, but it's probably a good option here.

Thinking about using Ozone

Thinking about using Ozone

I was considering using ozone on my tank. My skimmer which is a MRC-2 accourding to the manufacture can have ozone injected into it. I hear that used properly it can enhance the productivity of the protein skimmer.I was just curiousif others in the club use it, and if they were satisfied? I have a 120 gals with about another 80 gals of refuge and sump = about 200 gals. From what I have read that would require about 100 mg unit. If anyone has comments on use , a good brand , or negatives it would be appreciated.

I have yet to hook up my Ozone generator. I've only had it for about 18 months :rolleye1:
I don't know everything about it, but I know it degrades plastics. I wouldn't use your MRC for Ozone, I'd pick up a cheap used skimmer or reactor. If that gets trashed, it's cheap enough to replace.
