clown fish issues

well I think I need to use the melafix and pimafix I'm pretty sure my foxface has some sort of bacterial infection or fin rot. Will these work for this?

The infection looks like a brown tint on his fins and some small brown spots on his skin. Is qt needed for this and what else should I do I think I will just start with melafix and primafix and if those don't work I have a 10 gallon qt I will start with a new more powerful medication.

It wont hurt anything to dose your tank with both melafix and pimafix if you'd like, they both work pretty well for many types of bacterial and fungal infections and are safe for everything that i'm aware of.

I suspect those are natural coloration marks.. and fox faces can turn all sorts of weird colors, especially when they try to blend into things (when they are scared/nervous). fin rot and infections don't grow in lines.. they grow in misshapen roundish blobs. the fins would be tattered in appearance.

i also forgot about the eel you have.. maybe skip any more fish ;)

:thumbdownyeah eel eats a lot and I hope he doesn't get hungry and eat one of the fish. If I do get another fish it will probably be bigger supposing all the fish I have he probably could eat.

Apologize for the jump back in. There are a lot of anti fungal, bacterial meds out there. It sounds like you keep everything well fed and other wise healthy. And researching before you act. In time with good parameters and feeding right, that should do the trick. If you ever need to spot feed the fish, you can just use a small tong to place food at top of water. I fed a frozen meals gel food. The powder meds stick to it pretty well, and if I put it right in front of fishes mouth when it comes to top it doesn't rinse off a whole lot. If you can QT, that's always the best practice. It causes a little stress between capturing and releasing the 2 times. But, it's in an easily treatable environment that you can monitor. Looking forward to hearing about the return of healthy fish for you.

Yeah thanks I have a 10 gallon qt set up but I feel a 20 or 30 would be better suited so thinking about investing in that. Yes I also feel that taking them in and out is very stressful so if any other method works that doesn't require me moving them I would like to try it especially in this small 10 gallon. I feel if it does get worse I will try directing feeding meds. I have a turkey baster but I feel fish might be scared of it so a little hard. If I do direct feed will use a bond for the food. Hopefully he will get better on his own so far doing but if I notice any thing will start that.

I also have tongs that method sounds good also that way fish comes to you so you are not chasing it to eat.

10 gals is perfect. You can set it up fast, lower doses of meds, water change capacity is less, all to need is a heater and a hang behind filter box for flow, aeration and a filter media. And you can store a 10 gallon on any shelf or sink cabinet.

Yes it is good but might be too small for a fox face and a tang if I get one in the future. For now it works for me and all the points you made make it good. I am tempted to get a 20 long at petco dollar gallon sale and just transfer everything to it. I'm not sure yet. Thanks
