clown ID please!

they were labeled true percs
21 dollars each
one looks a little diffrent colored than the other.. im guessing they are percula's but i have no idea how to tell the diffrence

The darker one looks to be a true percula clownfish, the other looks to be an ocsellerus (sorry spelling is off basically a fake) clownfish

how do we tell? counting fins? coloration? size of eyeballs ? theres gotta be a trick

Those are ocellaris. Percula have a thicker black outline. And the eyes arent as dark. HEres some pics from google to help u out.

well, shucks. kinda upsetting that i got one of each. or will these two learn to live in harmony? should i exchange one?

keep them both. They're ocellaris and will decide who's dominate in the future sometime and TADA you have urself a nice pair of OCCE!

might i ask what makes you think they are both occellaris ?

All my occelaris looks like that. If you buy them from the same tank from the same store then they are most likely to be siblings. But if you was to buy each one at a certain place then its a different story HTH

ok should i get these guys a nem? if so what do you think my lighting can support ? 2x 65 watt PC. i think im looking at e.quadicolor ( BTA ) . i dont expect it to thirve but it should be liveable. and there is an upgrade a few months ( 6 - 9 ) down the road for the 90 with 6x 54watt t5ho . but in the meantime id like to get them a bounce house
