It dives downward, only to float back towards the surface. I've had this clown for many years and have never seen it experiencing this problem, until now. Any ideas? Btw, it's belly looks a little fatter than normal.
Did you feed it floating flake food? I have a maroon that will swallow air if she eats from the surface, then have difficulty staying submerged.
Swim bladder problems can also cause this symptom.
How long has the fish had this problem?
Do you live anywhere near Corpus Christi?
Float problem due to swallowing air should resolve in 24-48 hrs. If it have swimming balder problem then you have a problem. Good luck with him.
Yes, I live about an hour and a half from Corpus. I go there quite often.
The clown looked normal today and had no issues while swimming or diving towards the bottom of the tank. I am going to assume that it must have gulped too much air while feeding. Thanks for the replies.
