clown is swimming weird on top of the water?

I have to get to bed but wanted to ask a quick question, havent tested water today..it was good yesterday.

My Maroon clown is swimming in one place at the top of the water line. At first I thought he was just having fun against the current, but he lets me 'pet' him??? You would think he would have been afraid of my hand?Seems to be swimming funny a lot in one place.

He has a whitish spot, not too small, on his side and it doesn't really look like the ich photos, it is just like one spot, almost like he brushed up against something and his scales are gone.

Do u think his swimming behavior relates to the strange mark on him?

I would do a formalin dip and QT. IT sounds like it could be brook.

u probably have a bully or resident clown other than the maroon

does she do it all day? My clowns will swim sideways at the waterline during sleepy times and soon before the lights go off. When i say sideways i mean with the sides of their bodies bobbing in and out of the water. They will let me touch them. They look like real goofballs.

sounds a lot like brook to me too. whitish film/discoloration of mucus coat, breathing at the surface, lethargy are all symptoms. It can be fatal in 1-3 days. Look up more info and treat as soon as you are confident that is the problem.

unless you know what EXACTLY the disease is, do not treat it. you most likely will make situation worse.

i do not think its brook. everyone is quick to point to brook when it comes to clowns. if it was, most likely it would be already dead.

give it some time, as long as its still eating leave it alone. keep your water quality high. i hear more stories of people losing there clowns bec of mistreatment of meds. than if they would just focus on its environment.

sounds like its a new addition. if so, its just adjusting. clowns will often get random spots that come and go. if there healthy there immune system will take care of it. a hollistic approach is sometimes better. maroons are goofy clowns. they act like no other clowns in my experience.

i agree with slc, might be result of bullying from another fish.

BethanyM..that is what my clown is doing! It was around 3am and he was sleeping. He was acting like a bobber! Now today he seems fine and normal. Maybe he was just dreaming...

I added him a few weeks ago. He seems fine today. I'll check his strange behavior again tonight.

its sleeping lol, dont touch it when its sleeping. they often do that unless they have a host.

if thats your only concern , hes absolutely fine.
