Clown Killing RBTA

Well, I'm at a loss for words
I have a 16 gallon with 8 anemones in it and that's it.
Temp 80, Ammonia 0-.25pp, Nitrates .25-.5ppm, Salinity 1.024-1.025
Tank has a ATO.

So far I have had 4 clowns in it,
One was a complete mess up and my fault on his death

2nd one I'm at a loss, he hosted a nem, next day dead. Was healthy for a solid month, hosted the nem all night and next day was very pale to the color, no signs of disease.

Picked up a platinum clown hosting a GBTA and 3 more
Nems (Total of 8 now) and a single small to medium size looked like a Maine Mocha clown

Platinum clown and nem go in tank and the clown hasn't left the anemone and is looking healthy.

Mocha clown first night try's and host the same nem that the last one did, and the next day same exact thing.

Pale color, erratic swimming, and dead

I'm at a loss. The tanks water isn't perfect, but for 2 clowns it's definitely up to par

The Nems are doing great, no stress. 4 came from one mom, 3 from one mom, and 1. The 4 that came from one seem to just kill any clown that touches them.

I don't know what else to do, I'm at a loss for words and don't understand.

Any advice, anyone gone through this before?

To be honest, I've never heard of anything like what you are doing going well long term. Usually 2 clowns eventually pair up and bully/kill any other clown within 2 feet of their favorite anemone, so that seems more likely than a BTA killing a clown that is being hosted by the same kind of anemone. And speaking of anemones, I literally can't picture that many BTAs in a 16g tank. You wouldn't happen to have a picture of your setup, would you?

I spoke too soon about the pictures. And it doesn't look like they are paired up, so not sure about that either. It'll be interesting to see that tank again after all the anemones settle in and stretch out.

Haven't been in the reef game for a while, got a little a nano and just doing a complete anemone tank and wanna do 4-6 clowns down the line but I just don't understand what's going on. This platinum was hosting the GBTA at LFS so I took both even though I didn't really want a GBTA. The mocha hosted the red one on the left for about 20 minutes, then all night was hiding under the GBTA around the foot. And next day. Dead. It just makes no sense that 2 clowns have died the same way after hosting the same nem. The nem is beautiful. A very deep red and I don't want to get rid of these 4 as they are very deep in the rock with their foot.

How old is your tank? How did you acclimate the clowns?
