The eggs hatched last night and i only have 20 live ones out of a 300+ egg nest 
The eggs were taking a LONG time to hatch last night, i turned the lights out a 10:00pm and they didn't start to hatch until 1:00am and only about a quarter of the nest had hatched. I made a larvae snagger and figured i'd use it for the quarter of the nest that had hatched so i could test it. I think the flow through the tube killed about half of the ones i caught, so i only had 15 live ones after using it. I decided not to use it anymore and just catch them using the cup but the rest of the nest wasn't hatching. I fell asleep for about an hour waiting for the nest to hatch and when i woke up, the rest of the nest had hatched but there was only ~5 swimming around
I just hope the 20 live ones make it through meta, i dont have many larvae to work with...

20 is actually a manageable size. Enough to make it worthwhile but you won't have as much trouble keeping your ammonia under control going into MM.
You should have a real advantage now that you're home for the summer. The first few days, measure your rotifer density in the rearing tank at least 3 or 4 times a day and add as needed to keep it up. You can put enough phyto or rotifer food into the rearing tank to take the water to a very, very pale green. This will help keep the rotifers alive in the rearing tank that don't get eaten and will also help keep the dead rotifers from fouling your water.

Thanks, im making sure that they have enough rotifers. I counted 32 today :lol:, i guess a few must have been hiding behind the heater.
The clowns i am raising now are way too small to take pics of but i did find a pic of one of the clowns that made it through meta last time. This pic shows his 1st stripe and it was taken a day or two before he died.
I didn't really do anything to get them to spawn, they just started up one day.
