\Clownfish/ 29 Gallon BioCube Tank

very nice. Those rasta and fruit loops look awesome. When they fill out you are going to have quite the color show going on in there.

I went out tonight to pick up fresh 10 gallon for my qt of my black ice clowns. Excited to get them in the house and qt going while I take care of my algae.

I can't wait to see them soulpatch, I'm also thinking about getting some fish soon but I'll wait two more weeks to let these corals mature and thrive more before I introduce some clowns.

Day # 39

Parameters today

Salinity - 1.025
PH - 7.5 (really low but was told not to worry about it)
Ammonia - 0 ppm
Nitrite - 0 ppm
Nitrate - 5.0 ppm
Phosphate - 0.25 ppm
Calcium - 440 ppm
Alkalinity - 11 DKH

Tank has come along nicely clown. Your selection of corals so far is exactly almost the same as I have planned for my bc29 wen I start it

Unless your willing to spend $300.00 to 450.00 I would stick with your stock lighting.
Just my 2 cents.
Barry

I would agree with Barry. I am not the largest fan of the Current LED fixtures. I find they overstate their capabilities and I am only using them on my fresh water planted tank right now. Not been happy with that purchase.

So save your money and go for one of the tried and true retrofits that many of us have used. buy once...

plenty of options. I believe Barry uses a 4 light strip but he can talk of his.

I have the Rapid LED Aurora puck and only went with them over a Steve's LED unit due to the fact that the stock driver worked with the apex better.

For me honestly I will be going open hood most likely within this year and will switch to a Radion light most likely. With my rear hood so cut up I already hear the water in the filter bay and have more evap so the hood does nothing for me.

Great thread clown!!

Wish I had found this place sooner. :(

I too have a 29G biocube, been running for about the same amount of time as you. Basically I have it set up the same as you(assuming you must have watched the reefthuz videos on youtube also?). 2 eshopp sponges, seachem biomatrix, seachem purigen, seachem matrix carbon, and a aquatic life 115 skimmer(no issue with micro bubbles with it in the first chamber). All parameters are 0 except nitrate which I can't seem to get down for the life of me(40ppm constant)

I have about 40 pounds of live rock, 30 pounds of argalive sand, 3 emerald crabs, 3 bumblebee snails, 3 turbo snails, 4 margarita snails, 3 scarlet hermits, and a maroon clown(yes I know they are semi aggressive, but I just love the little guy. :) ).

No need for a heater as I've been running anywhere between 79 and 83F.

Again great thread!!! hopefully you keep updating it.

Thank You homer!

Will be updating with new additions to the tank. I am still testing water parameters every other day and so far everything is going great. My next purchase will be my lighting since I want to enhance the color of my corals and promote a little more growth. I think after the lighting I will be purchasing some fish and placing them in QT while the tank matures a little bit more.

Try taking those sponges out to see what happens with your nitrates. They trap a lot and it stews producing nitrates. I would actually run without them honestly. Use some poly flos when needed but otherwise sponges are not really used....

Lighting helps and then if you want to get into some other things look into the doser pumps for the 2 part you ordered in.

I am waiting on BRS to get their doser pumps back in stock.

Clownfish here is what the Nanobox LED retro kit
26 Full spectrum LED looks like under my hood.

So your saying to just do away with the sponges? What do I put it in its place? just leave the bio matrix in the bag by itself in the middle section?

I have fluval water polishing pads on top of the sponges. Do i not need that either? It does seem to "polish" the water when I change to a new one or rinse out the old one.

Sorry for hijacking your thread \Clownfish/
