I wouldn't mix different types of anemones, especially in that small of a tank. From what I understand there will be a chemical war between the different types, but I could be wrong. Don't forget these things will outgrow a 29. BTA's can stay smaller because of the splits.

I have a green and rose together, but they are in a 90. I do believe it is best to keep them from the same clone, especially in smaller tanks. I plan to do a rose tank someday, but I will pick one, and wait for splits.

ok i think ill do that then so if i do all roses then i just wait for splits and then ill have more soon hopefully!!!! how many clowns can i get i said can cause most of u will say 2 but can i get more than two??? like 4?

In a 29, stay with two, I would say you would definately have fighting, maybe not at first if they are small, but eventually.

I think you could get away with just about any type in a 29. I believe clarki's have a pretty high hosting rate. Where the percs are hit or miss. Tomatoes can get pretty aggressive and may or may not love the BTA's to it's death, especially if the BTA is small. I believe the rule of thumb is that the BTA should be 3 times larger than the clown. Not sure though. The Onyx clowns are also really cool.

In a clownfish tank like that I would be hesitant to use powerheads like that because the anemones might get sucked up. It has just happened to me and as a former LFS employee I have seen it too much.
Maybe you could try doing something like an external closed loop like this one guy I saw did, on this link www.melevsreef.com
This way you could maybe save money by buying only 1 pump some pvc and you could make your own large intake tube so that if the anemone happens to make contact it won't get sucked in.
Also, I think anemones produce a lot of waste from secretions and from feeding. I think it would benefit you to try buying a skimmer instead of relying on weekly water changes.

Just my opinion. feel free to argue with me.

150 may still be a little high, but probably doable, depends on how high you place it. You may have heat issure too. You may be able to get away with PC. I'm not that knowledgable on lighting, maybe someone else will chime in. But I would definately do more research before going with 150 for a BTA tank.

BTA's can go under halides, the point I was trying to make, is that the 29 g may be too small for the 150 MH, the lighting my be too intense, and create too much heat. I have BTA's under 2-175 W MH in a 55, and everything is fine. The tank is also in the basement where it is cooler, it also has two fans. It also depends on how high you place the lights. Lots of variables!

A 150 MH on a 29g is ok. Thats only 5.17w per gallon. For RBTA thats is good enough.

A 250w would be overkill on the 29g. Thats pushing 8wpg...

Just dont go over the 7wpg mark with BTA's. IME they tend not to fully extend if you overlight them.

4 Maxijets? Just get 2 on opposite end and point them towards each other;)..Remember these pumps are anemone shredders so get screening on them.

Sand is good and rock.

What kind of skimmer? Refugium?

Id stick to all RBTA, BTA, GBTA and stuff. I wouldnt mix but if you really want to mix you'll need to run carbon 24/7.

I currently have 5 Juvenile Ocellaris clowns. 2 Paired up right away so I put them in my main 110g display. The other 3 remained small males. Im sure you can keep a family of 5. But I would add no other fish in there.

Decide what kind of anemone you want and then set up the aquarium accordingly. Various clones of BTA will be fine together. You can have green and red BTA without problem. They may spawn also in captivity if you keep them healthy. You can keep two carpets together also. Carpet (S. haddoni carpet) requires sand bed (and higher light) while BTA does not.

so i CAN get a carpet and a bta?!!?!???!? this is great ok so how long will it take the average sized pet store carpet to out grow the tank>??? when it does can i frag it? so would the 150 do good for the carpet then???
