Clownfish enthusiasts in FL

Ron Popeil

Love them clownfish.
I'll be moving to Florida next month and am wondering how many of us clownfish and anemone nuts live in the area? And by area I mean Vero Beach. I'll need your insight into the local stores, clubs and...wouldn't mind seeing your fish as well!

Ron, plan your move well. When I move from Seattle, I was able to keep most of the animal I wanted. Get with reefer/LFS near your new home and get them to board your animal for you for a short time. Good luck with the move.
If you want to sell some of your animals, please let me know.

I am sure this thread is one of your effort to get in touch with some of these people.
Good luck.

Well I dont know how much out of the way your willing to drive to see a hell of a breeding setup but in miami we have a breeder called miguel that has a pretty crazy operation going on out of his house. Has pretty much any exotic clown pattern you could be looking for and sells live phyto and rotifers.

dave, I am hoping to sell off all of my aquariums, keep the equipment and hang on to most of the livestock. ideally i would like to tear down the tanks and keep everything in a big holding tub and fly them over to florida when i go, that way theyre only in the bags for under 12 hours instead of 24 hours+ if i ship them.

but its all up in the air at this point. maybe ill have to drive them.

minh, i will try to be very careful with the move. how did you do your seattle/texas move? anything that worked exceptionally well? i would very much like to find someone in the vero beach area with tanks that might help me out, or even get me connected with a local reef club or store.

knukles, i have heard of miguel. ill see if i can stop by when i reach the east coast!

Good luck with the move, take your time.

There is a very large breeder in Vero Beach and some really good stores in the area.

When I moved to Corpus Christi in 1999, there were not many (any) reefer in Corpus that I know. How ever there were quite a few reefer in Houston on Reefkeeping list at the time. Also Airport security was not anywhere as tight as it is now. I shipped all the animals with me on the flight. When I got to Houston, I boarded them with various reefers. Of course this was arrange ahead of time. Once I set my system up in Corpus, I drove to Houston and collected my animals.

If there are not enough reefers in Vero Beach, consider board them with reefers in Orlando or Miami or both.

I used to live in Jupiter fl there are a few in the area I know 3 one in Jupiter which is Riley's reef one in Stuart and one in vero beach theses two just off of us1 but I can't remember the names

There's lots of LFS in the area. There's treasure coast corals in vero beach. The fish store in Ft. Pierce. Fintastics, Aqua-Tek, shipwreck aquariums in Port St Lucie. I'm in Port St Lucie and I have 6 Tanks, 3 different pairs of clowns and just got new lights today to turn one of my tanks into an anenome tank.

Hello Ron and welcome to the area.
The store in Stuart off of US1 is called Aquatic and Exotic.
I'm getting ready to buy my first saltwater fish (Clownfish) tomorrow to put in my QT tank for a few months. Probably going to Treasure Coast Corals in Vero to buy them. There are a lot of saltwater stores in South Florida, you shouldn't have an issue finding one to suit your needs.
maxheadroom, where in PSL are you at? I live in PSL also. How long have you been in this hobby? I might have a few question for you.
