Google has alot of pictures that they say you can copyright most of them are good pictures they just need cropping but they are at the top of a search if you look into downloading these into gallerys and using them

Tyler - good idea - but I think ideally it's best if we use actual RC member's clowns. I think it gives a 'real' aspect to the fact that people are keeping these clowns.

Also - that picture is beautiful - but it doesn't really help with any identification purposes since the clown is mostly hidden.

Again - these are just my opinions - anyone else chime in with what they think!

Elegance...

If you could resize and put into RC this one for sure that would help... AMPHIPRION POLYMNUS

Then - what does Melanistic A. Clarkii mean? Is it just A. Clarkii? I'm not very familiar with these so didn't know what the Melanistic means?

Melanistic forms would be darker variants of a species.

Sometimes a genetic trait, i.e. Black and White ocellaris, sometimes triggered by hosting in certain anemones, etc., i.e. the black spots when clowns host in LPS, Star Polyps....

Melanism is an increased amount of black or nearly black pigmentation (as of skin, feathers, or hair) of an organism.

And before you go thinking I am super smart, I googled it.

Great - so should we add 'Melanistic' in the color variations portion of the Clarkii description? (Scott? :) )

 Thanks Todd!

Elegance - I think you should also put in the Melanistic Clarkii pic (even though that hand pick totally freaks me out) as it's a good example of that color variation...

 That pic of the Clarkii in my hand seems to freak out a bunch of people. Sorry about that. She was in a pond so the only way I could get a pic of her from the side was to pick her up. She's fine, I promise.

I think you should add melanistic versions of many of the clown fish species. A newbie with a black Ocellaris may pass right by your pic of an orange Ocellaris, thinking they're not the same species. With some of these fish it will take more than one pic to illustrate what the species looks like. Many of them have several different variations. The Saddle Backs I posted don't look anything like the ones on the Diver's Den right now.

Thanks for doing all this work. I'm sure it will be very helpful when you're done.

Hi Ben,

Some nice pictures.

We are looking for pictures you own, hosted on RC so we can maintain the links longterm, and non commercial watermarks; i.e. user name only.

Thanks for the help.

Scott

elegance coral, Have you tried Irfanview to resize? Had pretty good luck with it maintaining size and quality. Cheers.
