Clownfish pairs in 750g 2???....crazy 3?????

I'm setting up my 750g tank 10ftx4ftx2.5ft and a buddy is trying to trade me a mating pair of lighting maroon clownfish. I already have a pair of mating snowflake clowns. Think they could do well in a tank this size together? I'm assuming yes but thought I would get others opinions.

Could I even get crazy and add a black and white pair also to make 3 pairs?

Thanks

Ross

I never keep pairs of maroon long term. Given how agressive and how intolerance they are to other clowns you are really taken a chance with the live of your Ocellaris. Let us know how it turn out. At least so we know not to do certain thing. Not that many of us will keep 10 foot tanks

Maroons are exceptionally aggressive and territorial, so I agree even in that size tank it's still a gamble.
Even w/ multiple nems, usually maroons will swim around and take all.
There could be reason your friend wishes to trade them...

Friend was going to breed them and decided not to. Might try it or I might put them in my sons tank and get a pairs of black and white for the big tank with my snowflake. I would like to dabble in breeding fish at some point so I wanna get these.

I tried two mated pairs of ocellaris in a 600 gallon and it didnt work out. Had to net one pair and get them out constant fighting even in a tank that size.

I’d go with this plan and just have their anemones on opposite ends of the tank. For me, someone couldn’t pay me to take maroon clowns from them. As for breeding, it would be a fun project, but getting rid of the offspring will be a challenge.

Maroons are not good candidates for first time breeding efforts. Stick with percula and ocellaris.

i have a maroon in a 68g, he really doesnt swim around alot to be honest.. hes in his bta 80% of the time..

it will dart at fish that come close to the nem.. but hes not swimming around like the six line or damsel i have.. thats for sure.. but i dont think id mix clowns.. i tried that once.. didnt work out.. heh. constant fighting.. thats all they did..

I have a similar sized tank with a pair of maroon clown and 3 other pairs of clowns. Every pair goes in their own anemone. Maroons never really leave their BTA so as long as you put the BTA away from others, you should be fine. BUT, no other fish goes near the BTA. they will chase everyone out
