clownfish replacement

I had a pair of false perculas who were doing quite well after the initial squabbling. One began to quickly outgrow the other, and the smaller(male) became submissive.

Long story short, I went out of town, and during my trip, the female died...don't know why, but the male is fine. Found the female plastered to the side of a koralia.

Would it be possible to add another similar sized or smaller male and have the fish be compatible?...or should I abandon this male and start with another baby pair? It has been one week since the females passing.

Get a smaller false perc than your male. The male you have now will turn into the female.

Thanks Peggy...Should I expect some fighting since the one has been in the tank for three months?

Probably some squabbling but I wouldn't worry about it. Post a pic when you get your new fishy

I've seen a couple of them nip at each other and lock jaws. Amazing how such a cute fish can be so aggressive. I'm glad to keep my current male...he is really nicely colored...and he has personality.

Thats strange... usually females liplock. But hopefully one of them will take the female role and pair up fine.
