CLownfish went missing for a night then next day turned up melted?

ok so i bought my clown a new partner the other night seemed to be doing well just not eating heaps. 2 days after buying it it disappeared for a whole day then i woke to find it thismorning in my sump and it had melted it was still intact but when i threw it outside it was goop it fell to mush how could of it have broken down so quickly? a chromis also died the morning it went missing but he was also newish and i had a feeling the night before he was going as he was hanging near my overflow, my only idea is i have an elephant ear mushroom coral that has swallowed and spat a clownfish out before but im not sure this was it any ideas would be greatly appreciatted?

Elephant ear mushrooms will eat fish, but just saying your clown "melted" really isn't going to allow anyone to diagnose what happened. Sorry.

+1 Are you talking about the clown melting or the anemone? The latter would make more sense

im not sure it disappeared then reappeared dead in my sump, im not sure if it got eaten but something else is what i guessing im asking, it was the clownfish that died but it was like a ball of slime the next day when I found it

If it died, the CUC probably went to work on it before it got swept down the overflow. Who knows??

nah it was a whole clownfish it was like a soft jelly but when I found it haha almost like the pictures of the gummy clowns but it lost its shape as soon as it hit the disposal haha im pretty sure I narrowed it down to been my elephant ear, or maybe a mantis as I hear clicking often? but the elephant ear has been moved to my refugium to see if I lose any more, the funny thing is my male clownfish never got eaten by it or attacked by whatever? yet hes outlasted 3 mates

Maybe the survivor Clown is killing the others. I've noticed that when my anemones eat and then spit the food back out (for whatever reason) it does appear slimy and "melted" as if half digested.
