Club facebook page

Reef Bass

colors and textures
I visited our FB page and it appears there hasn't been a single post since February of 2013. Do we have a plan in place for managing our page? If not, should we?

If we want to attract more members we should give the impression that we are an active, vibrant, fun and thriving club. As such, we might want to consider how we wish to present ourselves and how often we wish to update the page. A casual observer might get the impression that the club dissolved last year because our page has been dead.

I do like seeing the faces in the profile pic. Perhaps it's time for an update to that with current members?

A more colorful banner photo might be another idea.

Does anyone care? What do you think?

I made Tom an Administrator way back in the day.
I certainly can make someone else an administrator.
Someone who isn't 3000 miles away .

Tom made me admin of the page but we never took a new club photo. Also it seems like posting on here was more beneficial.

Yes, posting here better.

The FB page could act as a club billboard, as opposed to an interactive forum, serving as a funnel or on ramp for new members letting people know we exist.

As an observation with my time in the club, and longer members please chime in, the club works better with more members than it does with fewer.

Along those lines, I think it makes sense to take advantage of a free virtual sign which metaphorically says "Wine Country Reefers this way".

In my opinion, we should have a discussed and reasonably agreed upon social media strategy. I don't really care whether it's FB, Twitter, Instagram, Pinterest, a combo, or whatever.

The possible benefit and hence motivating factor is more interest and more membership in the club, which leads to bigger and better meetings and raffles.

It could also serve as a way to recognize our sponsors, which could lead to bigger and better sponsorships.

If we agree that we don't care, that's fine too. Just thought I'd bring it up for discussion.

I agree with Ken, I think maintaining our FB or creating some kind of social media is good for the club. Social media is the way of the future so the current Bod should try to maintain interests in our FB page or other media. I worked with James to maintain it when I was president and then passed pass it on to Dragon when he was voted prez.

Posting here is beneficial but making announcements on FB and post pictures of our club will also generate interests. I would also encourage fishpro and other stores (that sponsor us) to post pixs of the latest corals shipments :)

Friendster just sounds creepy. At least here the worst thing that happens is someone pretends to be an expert without ever having had an aquarium.

I hear that. At least it now appears as though we are still an active organization. Thanks.

My suggestions for image management with the club FB page:
- use the profile pic for the logo, as we have now. That's the official club image.
- use the cover photo for either an annual shot of all the members at one of our better meetings (like when Thysrof hosts - good attendance, smiles on faces) or an informative collage of images and text that point to our forum here.
- use the standard posting mechanism for pics from the latest meeting. Then there are fresh postings with regularity that show our spirit and enthusiasm.
