Always stuck at 7.8 :(

Will it work with tunze 9002 the smaller skimmer for my biocube 29 ?

I m guess to use SMALL media of lime for 29g ? I don't want it to pike it Hugh over 8.3

I want stay around 8.2

How often do I change the media for small tank 29g?

The link above 3lbs soda lime- how long do you think it will last ?

Thanks
Jake

I use about 4 inches in each of two containers, one for each skimmer. 5 gallons/ 37 lbs last well over a year with monthly changes. For a smaller skimmer a narrower container might be best to limit the amount of media exposed to house air CO2.

Here is my simple but effective application. Two juice jars with slots for air cut across the bottom:

Thanks..

Ill start with 1-2" thick in jar.

My tunze 9002 tube is tiny and short.. Guess I'll go store and buy longer clear tube..

I believe I need to open tunze 9002 to get tube in cuz I can't see where tube from..

Thanks
Jake

Try to get one slightly larger than what's on there and slip it over it for a tight fit.

frofan, how's your setup working out? How long is the media lasting?

I'm thinking of converting my brs reactor to a co2 scrubber.

Working well. I had to drill several holes in the bottom of the media container of my BRS reactor to allow more air to pass through it. I have also been trying to replace the media once a month.

Finally got time to do this...

My tank biocube 29 with tunze skimmer 9002.

It jumps from 7.9 to 8.36

Used pinpoint ph.

I used 12 oz mini Gatorade with little more than half sodalime

Souls I reduce amount of sodalime down to little less than half ?

I'm afraid it might goes high than 8.4

Thanks for great idea!

Jake

I would like to know if you guys notice dropping CA and ALK #?

Have you testing the water ?

Friend of mine dropped into 6alk from 9 after 1 week set up co scrubber..

he was not sure if its sodalime that causes it..

mines pretty stability at 8alk and above 400 CA

my PH has been 8 at night and daytime 8.2-8.3

Also my 2 SPS looks like start to bleach on bottom base :( i dont know...

Hi, Just answered your pm on this.
All the soda lime does is lower the CO2 in the air moving through the skimmer into the water.
It would have no effect on calcium .

The lower CO2 raises the ph and increase carbonate relative to bicarbonate proportions in alkalinity raising the ph buffering alkalinity a bit not lowering it or incresing the total carbonate in thewater. Hgher ph makes it easier for calcifying organisms to calcify so growth consuming alk and calcium may increase. The drop your friend observed could be testing error or related to increased growth, testing error or something else.

Well my pH has not been able to get much past 8 and more times than not it was 7.6-7.8

1. I have two windows cracked open in my reef room and central AC.

2. I have great water surface agitation
(3 Mp40's and 2 Mp10's)

3. I dose Kalk.

Looks like it was time to try a DIY Co2 scrubber.

I put it on line last night at 8:30 pm
pH was 7.94

It is now 6:00am the next morning and my pH is at 8.6

Yay! So far so good.
I will continue to monitor it and report back what it gets up to during the day.
