Cody's 2.5g AIO build

Bristleworms?

Bristleworms?

I have some spare bristleworms if you need them... :D

Let's see the clear water shot next! ;)

haha, the bristle worms will be mourned and given a proper and fitting ceremony :p I guess I'm okay though, there are a hell of a lot of back-ups in my fuge.

Lytehouse - I was surprised how roomy it looks too. I'll actually have a little less rock when it's all said and done. I think I want to keep a little clown goby or tail-spot blenny, so I'm going to have to free up some swimming space.

Very cool, I cant even make room in a 10 gallon for such creativeness. I am anxious to see new photos as well.

I have been seeing a lot of the foam and live rock background lately in build threads, is their any links on how this is done?

Looks awesome!
I was going to suggest you clean up the silicone edges on the tank before you filled it but oh well.

I actually did clean it up a lot before filling it. I trimmed it a little too much in one place and caused a nice leak. The stuff that's left is able to be seen, but gives piece of mind that it's not going to leak again.

Well, so far so good with the little tank.

I have a couple of palys and shrooms in there just to test the water and they seem to be doing fine. Once they start fully opening and showing signs of thriving rather than just being alive I'll start to add other coral. I'm thinking about filling it with higher end zoas and palys and some of the yumas I already have. I'm thinking about tossing in my frogspawn as the centerpiece. I think it'll give the tank some height and some movement it lacks.

The tank holds a steady 79* day and night without the assistance of a fan. I was a little worried about that with 36w of lighting, but it's not a problem.

awesome!!! i want more pics!!!!!!!! please? lol
Sure thing. it's about time for that month update. I'd upload pics, but photobucket is being a twat and won't let me upload pics. It goes through the whole process and then there is nothing on the album when it reloads. I'll fight with it later.

I've been dealing with the standard new tank algae. I had some green stuff coat the rocks and sand that I believe was the fault of the rock, not a new tank. I'm guessing the LR I used was leeching phosphate because there were only a few rocks affected, along with the sand and glass. I changed those rocks out today for some that have been algae free in my 33g. We'll see if it's just a symptom of new tank syndrome or if the other rocks were to blame.

Livestock is still more or less nothing. I have a few 'test frags' that I put in to make sure the water was safe and they're doing just fine. there's a red'ish shroom, a pair of green yumas and 2-3 green palys that are brown under these PC lights and haven't opened up. I'll probably bring in a zoa frag soon just to see how it goes. I also have plans for a yellow clown goby to take up residence here. I may toss in a toadstool frag and see if he hosts it. If not a YCG, then I'll look into a purple tang. i'll get a baby, I promise!

I won't bore you with water tests and temp details. I'll just say that the tank does need a small fan. I have to keep the hood propped open with a wine cork to keep the temp down. I'll get around to putting one that blows out, drawing air over the tank, when I decide I'm tired of looking at a propped open hood :)

I did add a small florescent light to the inside of the stand to grow chaeto in the back chambers. I think it may help with some of the algae issues.

I do want to change my lighting. I'll try a shot at a 50/50 and the actinic in there, but may have to track down some LEDs or something. That won't happen any time soon, but I"ll put it on the dream sheet.

It was good to see you at Aquariums the other day. It seems like a long time. (June 20th ?)
You too! It's been a few months, that's for sure. It's good to hear that your monster is still coming along nicely!

Thanks Josh!

I finally have a few more pics for you guys. it's not much, but it's progress.

I finally got around to adding the quarter-round trim to the bottom of the tank.

I had some livestock in there that was doing well, but I'm having a bit of an algae issue. it's not hair algae, just a green slime that' on everything. I think it's due to the old 10000K light. I have a 50/50 on order that will go in next to the other actinic. Light levels will be low, but that's not a problem as I'm strongly considering making this a non-photosynthetic tank. I have a dendro on the way and am passively looking for small sun coral. I'll add some zoas and shrooms along the way too.

Thank's Lynn! It has a long way to go before I'm truly happy with it, but that will come with time and good lights. I do think an upgraded pump is in order too. Flow is a little slow for my liking. It's just inviting cyano when I up the nutrient level from feeding, especially when I add those NPS corals.

It's been up a little over a month. i'd say about 6 weeks. I was supporting shrooms, zoas and yumas, but they were unhappy because I've been running a very limited light cycle. I pulled them the other day so they could get some sun in my BioCube. I found out my 50/50 bulb is in at the LFS, but no dendro, so livestock will make its way back to the pico in a few days. Look for more pics in the next week or 2!
