awesome!!! i want more pics!!!!!!!! please? lol
Sure thing. it's about time for that month update. I'd upload pics, but photobucket is being a twat and won't let me upload pics. It goes through the whole process and then there is nothing on the album when it reloads. I'll fight with it later.
I've been dealing with the standard new tank algae. I had some green stuff coat the rocks and sand that I believe was the fault of the rock, not a new tank. I'm guessing the LR I used was leeching phosphate because there were only a few rocks affected, along with the sand and glass. I changed those rocks out today for some that have been algae free in my 33g. We'll see if it's just a symptom of new tank syndrome or if the other rocks were to blame.
Livestock is still more or less nothing. I have a few 'test frags' that I put in to make sure the water was safe and they're doing just fine. there's a red'ish shroom, a pair of green yumas and 2-3 green palys that are brown under these PC lights and haven't opened up. I'll probably bring in a zoa frag soon just to see how it goes. I also have plans for a yellow clown goby to take up residence here. I may toss in a toadstool frag and see if he hosts it. If not a YCG, then I'll look into a purple tang. i'll get a baby, I promise!
I won't bore you with water tests and temp details. I'll just say that the tank does need a small fan. I have to keep the hood propped open with a wine cork to keep the temp down. I'll get around to putting one that blows out, drawing air over the tank, when I decide I'm tired of looking at a propped open hood
I did add a small florescent light to the inside of the stand to grow chaeto in the back chambers. I think it may help with some of the algae issues.
I do want to change my lighting. I'll try a shot at a 50/50 and the actinic in there, but may have to track down some LEDs or something. That won't happen any time soon, but I"ll put it on the dream sheet.
It was good to see you at Aquariums the other day. It seems like a long time. (June 20th ?)
You too! It's been a few months, that's for sure. It's good to hear that your monster is still coming along nicely!
