Collinrb's 90Gal Mixed Reef

So this is a post for everyone who has actually come over to my tank and heard my speech... "there will be cabinets on each side that do these amazing things! yada, yada, yada"

Well today was the day I got started. Had about three hours to the work bench to myself and got cracking on the ATO cabinet. Here's some pics for you guys, Before sanding, and staning.

Here is what will be the top of the ATO cabinet

And here is the top open haha

And here is where the resivoir (trash can) will sit. I might end up going with a different tub, or some modified 5 gallon jugs, as the trash can might bow too much when filled with water. Excuse the ballast, its going to have to find a new home, I'm nervous keeping it under there, with water on top of it.

Any suggestions on things I should do differently? This was the first time I went solo carpenter without a buddy there to bounce ideas off of.

So I grabbed a few new things over the past week:

A semi-bleached Meat Coral (Scoly relative) Looks like he'll turn a nice orange

A bunch of maricutlured SPS frags! (Excuse the dirty glass, didn't clean from putting them in)

And this guy is still acclimating now... (From DD) Spiral Wire Coral

Looks good Collin, but needs more coral ;)

Tell me about it!

Also, my tang seems to be nipping at the edges of my elegance? Might have to find a new home for that piece of coral, he's still eating krill though!

And if anyone has any monti caps, lemme know, I'd like to try a couple. (smallish pieces, I want to pick the spots where they go!)

My Scopas picks at my soft corals occasionally, mostly my Kenya trees, Anthellia, and occasionally the extended polyps of my yellow leather. What kind of tang is it?

A few updates...
Went to PC yesterday to meet Trump. (Had his RODI system) and as we were outside, Saltychick was checking out the fish. Mainly the 4" mandarin! Needless to say, we came home with a beautiful male.

So while I was watching him this morning, I noticed my male clown began hosting a coral! I snapped a pic, and about 10 minutes later, he'd gained the female's interest.
BUUUUT

Out of all the LPS in the tank, he picked a monti cap.

They're tank raised midnight photon clowns. A hybrid between ocellaris and percs, and hadn't picked a home until today apparently.

Also, our Bangaii cardinal is about 28 days into holding his babies, and they're desperately trying to escape.

Good days on the reef!

thanks again for bringing that up for me collin that fat mandrin is looking good in there. great pick up.

Update on the spiral:

Its growing! little by little the end gets longer, and then the body fills out.

I also found that on the rock there are possibly 2 more! little tiny gray spots with little yellow dots along them. Will keep you guys updated, in a couple months I'll probably cut off the babies and off they go to new homes.

Chris, do you still want one?
