Color change

I have some frags from smaller colonies that were broken when crabs and other creatures knocked them off the rocks. I haven't had time to mount them yet, as I'm still contemplating some rock work changes.

Anyhow, these colonies started off pink, or pale purple, a few rainbow colors. The pinks have since turned purple and very deep purple, the pale purples have turned darker purple with green and blue, and the rainbows have gone to rich maroons with oranges and green highlights.

The most interesting change is in the polyps of the pinks--now dark purple. The other day I noticed they have begun to change from purple like the rest of the acro to florescent green. No other green on those frags, just the polyps. It seems to be happening at the bottom first, as the top part the polyps are still purple.

I'm curious if other people have had drastic color changes like this. I used only t5 lighting.

I can only assume that they are farther away from your light source than the colony. This could make them change color.

No, actually the frags are up on a rack closer to the light. However I should have specified that several of the colonies have also color changed, but differently. Even the frags on the same rack have different changes. Some more subtle but definitely different. It's just the frags have the most drastic changes in comparison to the colonies, such as the polyp color change.
