I'm having a lot of fun with the tank. Thanks for letting me serve the Comas community. Please let me know if you have questions or have interest in any corals you see, or haven't yet seen. If you've been on a list for awhile an are wondering if your coral is in the tank, feel free to contact me.

Thank you

Thank you

Thank you to all who returned corals to the frag program and for the new donor coral. Everything made the trip and acclimated to the tank. Once everyone has a chance to grow in and color up I'll get some pics up and make them available on the donor pages. Very nice additions to the tank, Thanks very much.

Great to see everyone and put some faces to some new names. Sharing a meal with everyone and spending time together was special. Happy Holidays to all...

First shots.....

First shots.....

mikencarol wrote and ask, among other things about the christmas party,.... and did the frag tank contents grow??

I did bring home 4 bags of coral, plus the one I won in the dirty santa. I show 2 here tonight. Chris (cjilge) returned 2 pieces of this red and green favia. One looks like melted candle was, or I'm haveing flash backs :rollface:anyway, here go:

Secondly, Shane (schshman), donated 2 frags of pink paly's. One tried to open up in the bag on the way home. Healthy specimens. As soon as they grow out a little, I'll split them and make them available for adoption. I love the first shot, One big fat happy paly:

Thanks guys for some very nice things for the tank.
I'll have pics of the other returns as well as other things in the tank later.
Let me know soon what you might be interested in for January so I can make sure it is available.

The Frag program is in the right hands, good job Lynn. I will bring you a few frags for the Jan meeting as well.

Hey Lynn..What do you use to "Dip" the newly cut frags in and where do you buy it??

Depending on what type coral, softie, lps, sps,
I use one or a combination of Lugols Iodine, revive, and Tropic Marin's pro coral cure.

Dipping every coral you get is a must, even things you get from the frag tank, trusted local reefers and other trusted sources. No one can account for the moment when something surprises them in their tank.

Let me know if you need more information.

From my experience, a tablet of Interceptor heartworm medication is a handy thing to have on hand in the dipping process of corals. It seems to be the best product out at the moment that will get those little red bugs.

I just don't want to fight a battle with something in my tank if I can prevent it from ever entering the system.

Up for Adoption

I really want you to know what's available in the tank. To that end, I continue to make available pics available of corals that a currently growing in the tank and new donations that are offered.

I'll be bringing frags to the January meeting. If you have seen something on this thread or on the comas page you are interested in, please pm me and let me know.

Happing reefing and Happy Holidays

Lynn, thanks for the info....Mine are all mushrooms or LPS..Chalices or Acans..although I am trying to frag some really really Blue Xenia for the Comas frag tank. Doug and someone else told me they would like some. It may be Feb B-4 they are ready but whenever I"ll bring some...Maybe there will be some interest. Everyone tells me they are real diffucult to ship??

Cloves = purty. I'm just starting my zoa "garden", went slow at first with the PC bulbs, but in the 2+ weeks with LEDs they've started growing alot faster. Hoping to have some bambams and whamn watermelons to fraggable size in the next few months.

Prolly wrong place to ask, but can anyone spare/sell me a couple smallish frag disks, or point me to an LFS that has some for cheap? 1" pieces of LR I am learning suck for growing out zoas.

I also grow an excess of chaeto in my pico fuge and NC back chamber, I hate throwing some in the garbage every month, so I'll prolly post on the club forum whenever I am culling it.

A lot of us have a pot full of frag disks. I'll bring some to the January meeting, or if you need them now, you're welcome to swing by and pick them up. We even have a couple of members who make their own plugs...and they look quite nice.

I would like to get 3-4 ASAP, have the LR chunks they are attached to sitting on the sand, not alot of room for growth at all. If we can work out a mutually compatible time for me to swing over, would I get to see your big beautiful tank? :fun2:

Big time thanks

Big time thanks

Thanks to George- Lightsluvr for hooking the Comas tank up today. We work off a loaner fixture. The DE MH bulb has been acting up and decided yesterday was it's last day. One PM got the tank New year goodies:

Several Bulbs
DJ power switch
pump
2 bags of salt

Thanks a lot. The treasures are really appreciated.

I got home, let the bulb acclimate to room temp and popped it in the fixture and it fired rigt up. Happy corals tonight for a few hours

As you look back through the posts and pics,

Anybody looking for anything in particular that I should bring to the meeting?

Only a few days away :fish1:
