Comas Frag Tank

I have 4 frilly mushrooms and I can donate 2. Problem is, I don't know how to detach them from the rock. Do they have to be dipped?

The weather outside may become frightful,
but the corals inside will stay warm and cozy,

Just gave the generater its first test fire.
Trip to the grocery store and ready for most anything.

Don't forget extension cords for 1.) your furnace, and 2.) your refrigerator...

Apologies for not keeping you up to date:

As you have seen, Jacob has done an outstanding job updating the comas website so we have a new place to share information. Our last administration brought out club a long way, Jacob gave us a new face.

Instead of pulling the entire site down and leaving it down until it was all done, he has been able to get it up in phases so we can enjoy it-- so you can see the forums and the library, etc....

The donor program pages are a bit involved and will take a bit longer. All the things you see on this thread are still available. Please contact me by pm if you have interest.

I've enjoyed the contacts of those of you who have shared information and ask questions. Please don't stop. The meeting is coming up soon. It promises to be another you won't want to miss. Let me know what I can bring you from the Comas tank.

So many, many thanks to Jacob

We'll see him and all of you on the 20th :fish1:

It was great to meet everyone today... Paul, Lynn, and Jacob. The coral's are all in place and looking happy so far! I'll try to get some pics up soon.

Thanks again,
Brandon

I have begun adding pictures of the coral in the donor tank to the site. We will soon have descriptions up along with being able to request a certain piece from the site.

Thanks Jacob,

Threw my back out and can hardly stand. :worried2:

Will work on the write ups as soon as I am able.

Lynn, I have one rock that is looking mighty lonely and it sitting mid-way in the tank. Do you have anything that can go on this rock?

that sucks lynn. hopefully it gets better soon.

marsha, there's lots in the tank, just depends kinda on what you're looking for.

Lynn, I hope you get to feeling better soon!! Back pains seems to be harder on us as we mature.

Jacob, I need a beginner coral that can flourish while sitting at med. height. Anything like that? I'm not picky. :o

Stopped by a couple of lfs today. Our cold weather has played havoc on their fish shipments. I've been looking for a wrasse for the tank just in case.... just in case something slips by the dips, just in case I don't see something..... just in case. There are lots of options. Anything in the Halichoeres family, as I understand it. They are great hunters of varmits that are bad for the tank. Common options are six-line, yellow coris, & green coris.

Today I was fortunate to find a mature green coris. After acclimation for about an hour, I scooped out most of the water from the bucket and welcomed him to the tank with my hands. He took only a couple minutes to get accostumed to the tank before starting to hunt..... great sign :bounce3:

So I present to you, the newest resident of the tank:

If he gets lonely, I'll have to get him a buddy (ok, it's an excuse to go back to the lfs)

Wrasses, are prolific jumpers-- no I can't tell you why. I'm sure others can. Maybe they get spooked or too happy, but they are known jumpers and are therefore known as 'carper wrass' , 'tile wrasse', .... well you get the picture

Everything was going along swimmingly :fish1: last evening, then I turned around and the newest tank member was gone. A thorough search of the floor, and all receptacles around the tank turned up nothing. It's not possible to flop under the stand or behind anything, but we've heard that story before. Long search, no wrasse was to be found.

I knew coris are known to sleep under the sandbed, in fact, I've had them disappear under the sandbed as soon as they were introduced to the tank and not come out for a couple days. Still it was uncomfortable to go to bed with no visual sight of the fish.

But, first thing this morning, I came to the door quietly to watch the tank from accross the room..... and sure enough, there he was, hunting around corals.

So, just FYI, wrasses jump and some hide/sleep in the sandbed.

Halichoeres Wrasses are best for pest control - according to my mentor Dr. W. Thus my selection of the Yellow Coris and Melanaurus wrasses. The Six-Line wrasse seems to be effective for this purpose as well.

Lynn, if your new buddy doesn't have anything chasing it, I think you have a good chance he won't wind up on your floor... Fingers crossed.

No jumpin' for this kid,

This tank has been set up for a long time between here and Glenn's with no predators to the pod population. Some of the stomatellas look like they could carry a small frag. So, having been dropped into a buffy with no competition for food--- he should stay around for a while.

Jeri, I need a small packet of your magix elixar now.

Lynn, my frilly mushroom has produced 3 new schrooms, so I would like to donate the parent to the frag tank. Do you already have maroon frillys?
