We have had to clean out the entire garage for the remodel and I ran across an old box of photos. Among the many photos of me and my friends from 20 years ago, I found a picture of my first saltwater tank. At the very beginning of this thread I think I mentioned that I had a 35 gallon fish only tank. It had an under gravel filter, NO lights, and fake corals. The picture only has one fish, probably a Damsel of some kind, but I don't remember. I do remember that later I got a yellow tang.

Well, a major adventure this morning. I hadn't seen my Six Line Wrasse in a day or so. I couldn't find him anywhere, not even a body. So I looked in the overflow last night and there he was. Now my overflow has two drain pipes. One (the big one) is a straight shot into the skimmer with a small bypass to the sump. I went looking for the six line this morning in the overlfow and now he was nowhere to be found there.
After about ten minutes of looking around the sump I spotted him. Well I had to take out the return pump, the RowaPhos reactor and half of everything else in the sump, until I finally (with massive help from the wife) caught him.
Kind of a pain. But a good excuse to clean the sump area!!

That's an adventure with a happy ending... Yesterday, I did the same searching for my lawnmower blenny and the ending wasn't as nice. I found him behind my tank. 
From the looks of it, he jumped out around Chritsmas when we were out of town. After kicking myself for not having cut and installed the eggcrate a month ago, I finally installed it. It was one of my favorite fish even though he was one of the biggest poopers. I'll take a few months to see if I want replace him or not. There's now 3 fish in my 75 - a yellow tang, clown, and a sixline.

Sorry to hear about your Blenny.
I always get depressed when I lose an animal. Some people don't think fish and corals are "real" pets, but I think they're better.:lol: :lol: :lol:
I am really surprised I have a picture of it at all. Not a lot left from those days. I was the only punk I knew with an apartment of my own let a fish tank.I felt like an idiot while I was taking apart the sump, because I could have grabbed him out of the six inch deep overflow instead. Was the Goby alright after that much time "in sump"?

Hey, the whole RK2 thing is silly.
I just bought 2x250w Stealth heaters from Dr F&S. They are supposed to be very good. I'm going to place my temp probe upstream of the water flow to minimize flickering... it really does seem like a bad idea... I wish it could be set up like the AC Jr...

I was kind of hoping you would get that new macro lens for Christmas. I'm looking forward to seeing more pictures of the tank too. I haven't seen a picture of the finished stand. It is finished isn't it?

Thanks for the kind words. It has been a long journey, but well worth it. And it's not over yet.
As for the woodwork, I'm going to take the Melev stance!! :lol:
But I do have a good reason for waiting. The day before yesterday workmen ripped out everything out of the garage to the studs, in order to change it into a Master Bedroom and build a new garage in front of it. Once that is done, I will build my new fishroom in the new garage, move the plumbing into it, then finish the woodwork, including new canopy (since I hate the first one I built).

I did a new mod to my Pan World 100PX-X today. The original fan that I had on broke, the cord got pulled and broke so the pump has been running for about two months with nothing and was so hot that you couldn't touch it for more than a couple of seconds.
Here are some pictures of the new mod.
Here are the materials. About $15 worth. Fan for $10, Stainless steel bolts and nuts for $5 and I already had the 4" PVC coupling and the zip ties.
Here is the fan. 21dB, 78 CFM, 380 mA, but I am running on a 200 mA transformer. So it running a bit slower and quite a bit quieter.
I drilled two holes for each of four zip ties to hold the fan on and three holes for the bolts to hold the assembly onto the pump. Here is the picture of tapping the holes.
Here is the finished product. I used some black netting covering for the wires. Looks a bit better. I used lock nuts to make sure the bolts don't vibrate loose.
And installed I installed the new fan mod without removing the pump. Heck I didn't even shut off the pump. I don't know about temperature decrease, but the pump is cool to the touch now.
Thanks to dandy7200 for the mod idea.
