Coming in January 2009

Candys are all sold guys :(. I put one in my cart last night just so I could say, "oh yeah, I almost bought one of those once"

And they only went for $899.99 each LOL WOW

Hey Kevin, those are beautiful fish. I'm still wishing I could afford the Dalmation dogface puffer. Any Solomon Islands shipments coming in? I'd really like a black dogface puffer (which I think I CAN manage to afford). :)

That little blue spotted angel I got from you last month is doing great, eating well, filling out, and swimming with the big fishies. Thank you for your post in the Reef Fishes forum with some tips and history on that fish.

I'm setting up another oddball tank soon, so will be on the lookout for those strange little venomous fish I like so much. Also, wondering if there's a chance of any more reticulate boxfish coming in? I should have gotten the second one when I had the chance. The one I have has become a favorite.

I am definitely outclassed by these posters in the rare fish department, but I too have been delighted with the selection, quality and service of liveaquaria, Diver's Den in particular. You've built a very loyal customer and fan base.

i just want to say how amazed and mad i am at the same time. My qt tank is barely starting up a cycle again and i cant get fish for atleast a month. Why couldnt you guys wait until February to post all the wonderful fish? :p
Amazing job guys, those are some great fish, i wish i could have that blue spotted angel thats on there right now.

The Iron Butterfly is my favorite on those listed. The fish I'd like to find isn't rare, but certainly doesn't show up in the US (rare to the hobby I guess).

It's the Seychelles Clownfish from the east coast of Africa; probably the only marine fish I'd be willing to pay the big bucks for... ;)

I never have looked at vendor forums until today as someone asked me to check it out. Great stuff. What I really love about DD, is that they state a fish like a Flame box needs cool water. Just as is the case with a Wrought, maybe not as important, but vital to long term success. I was a click away from getting a Wrought about 6 months ago and listened to people here who know their stuff to stay away unless you are willing to go down to at least 75F. I have seen one Wrought in person and the contrast of white on black is mesmorizing.

Speaking of cooler water Japanese fish. Kevin, will we ever see some interruptus? And not those 5"+ throw aways that are all beat up which seem to be the only ones that make it to the states.

I believe your business, which has almost become an institution has made Americans begin to appreciate fish like the Japanese and fish loving cultures. Keep up the great work!!! T

Actually, if one is willing to set up a cool water tank, there are some really cool (sorry, could not resist) fish you can keep. My favorite is Australian white bar trunkfish followed closely by a group of wrought iron butterfly fish.
The value of this forum to me is the ability to ask questions to determine whether one can successfully keep a fish. Google is nice, but expert advice customized to my questions is better still.

myerst2,
Unfortunately I have not seen Centropyge interruptus available in several years now. Small Tank Raised Japanese Pygmy Angelfish were offered in late 2002, and hopefully Frank Baensch will resume spawning and rearing Dwarf Angels again in 2010.

Thank you very much for the compliment. All of us here at Drs. Foster and Smith appreciate your kind words.

Sincerely,

Kevin,
What about some of the East Africa species like the Seychelles clowns I mentioned?
Any possibility in the near future?

Ed

Yeah, and what about my Coelocanth!??:D
Really??? I called its mother and not even she could love it.

Just kidding, ugly fish need loving too...

Ah, its kinda my "pet" joke. This hobby seems to be so riddled with people who cannot be truthful. They start as little exaggerations ("i have a 20 gallon" that turns into a 30, 35, 40...), to "my water paramaters are perfect", to "I've kept this pinnatus batfish alive for 800 years!" I dont get why people do it, but they do. So I created my own. I am setting up my "coelocanth reef". If Kohen would come through, that is!:p

EdKruzel,

I apologize for not addressing your comment on the Seychelles Anemonefish- Amphiprion fuscocaudatus. I have never seen this Western Indian Ocean fish offered in the US market. I do think there is hope to see these fish one day, as I have heard some rumblings about a possible collection expedition to the Seychelles in the near future. Another incredible fish from the Seychelles is one rarely ever seen in the US aquarium trade called the Debelius Angelfish- Centropyge debelius. For now we can only hope that these two incredible fish will be available in the near future.

Bradleyj,

After almost two years, I finally have seen a few Blue Striped Tamarin Wrasse-Anampses femininus show up again on imports from Australia. Unfortunately at this time we do not have one of these incredible fish to offer in Divers Den®.................yet.
I can tell you that this fish is a very delicate shipper, and the price has skyrocketed from when we used to infrequently see these fish several years ago. I wouldn’t be surprised that if you do in fact see one available in the near future, the selling price will be around $1000.00 retail.

jmaneyapanda,

We will have to wait a bit on your Latimeria chalumnae or Latimeria menadoensis until a captive breeding program is started for this ovoviparous fish. :D

All joking aside, Coelacanth are 400 million year old living fossils fish that were around millions of years before dinosaurs, and were once thought to be extinct until 1938, where a live specemine was discovered off of Southern Africa.

Thank you all for your support, and Happy Fish keeping!
