comline 3110

Hi. The vendor I purchased a skimmer from states that the Comline 3110 is good for tanks up to 40 gallons " dependent on bio-load". I have a 33 gallon tank with one 2" clown and a bunch of inverts (corals and tank janitors). Is this an appropriate bioload for the skimmer to perform well? I feed flakes several times a day and frozen foods once or twice a week as well as phytoplankton on a regular basis. I know the answer will vary according to the tank conditions, but I wasn't able to get any information from other people's personal experiences by doing a search, other than that Tunze products are extremely reliable (which is the main reason I chose this skimmer, as well as the price). Thanks for any info you can give.

Yes, I think it will work very well in your aquarium. I would place it above the basic Prizm unit, Bak Pak and slightly below a Remora in efficiency. It is an intank unit and not a hang on though. I might lean away from flakes though simply because the processing increases the phosphate concentration of the food. But the skimmer will do a good job on your set up and it is actually rated for 47 gallons, a typo in the catalogue rates it for 39.

Thanks for the quick response. I can't really stop using the flakes, as I'm having a relative take care of my tank for the summer while I'm away and live or frozen will make things too difficult for her, but compared to my old, airstone-type (which is also intank, so that aspect of the comline doesn't bother me), this skimmer is going to perform miracles.
